Full job description

Expected Salary Range: $37.17 - $49.57 Hourly

The salary range shown above reflects the expected compensation for this position. The final salary offered will be determined based on a holistic assessment of the candidate’s experience, education, training, and alignment with the role’s requirements. For positions covered by a collective agreement, placement within the range will follow the applicable step or classification.

The Logistics Handler is responsible for the managing duties related to the effective inventorying and distribution of all material, tools and equipment related items as required by our customers including; storage, repair, service, distribution, and scrap.

This posting is to fill 1 position which is an existing vacancy. Toronto Hydro reserves the right, in alignment with the applicable collective agreement, to finalize the number of positions filled.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safely plan and organise daily warehouse/distribution activities, taking into consideration all risk factors and conditions
Safe operation of material handling equipment including counter-balance lift truck, reach truck, walkie/rider, rough terrain forklift, overhead cranes.
Utilize SAP to update and research material requests
Plan tool and material requirements from work orders, specifications, instructions and procedures
Physically and systematically receives, packs, unpacks, stocks, loads, picks, issues, delivers all material, tools and equipment as required
Manages safety equipment, tool crib, Personal Protective Equipment, clothing inventory and any other area related to material, tools and equipment
Performs inventory counts, product inspection and Warehouse maintenance. Performs inventory control functions including ordering, expediting, and determining appropriate stock levels
Arranges for equipment/tool testing, factory repairs and warranty repairs
Receives, sorts and checks warehouse orders, and other related paperwork required to obtain material from the warehouse for accuracy, completeness and validity
Organize material in outgoing staging area. Repalletizing orders as required
Load and unload System vehicles
Effectively organize and arrange for material shipments with external carriers
Reconcile all material issues, returns and stock adjustments against reports. Performs clerical/administrative routines associated with the position.
Update and prepare reports, records and documents pertaining to the position.
Receive and satisfy inquiries/complaints by telephone, in person or by correspondence
Operates a vehicle requiring a class DZ license and associated equipment related to the position
Demonstrate safety awareness and adheres to all safety rules and regulations

REQUIREMENTS:

Ontario Grade 12 or equivalent (2-year college diploma supply chain, operations preferred)
Three – Five (3-5) years of work experience operating lift trucks and material management
Class G License, with the ability to obtain DZ post-hire (if needed)
Must currently hold or be able to successfully obtain and retain valid operator certificates for Counter Balance Forklifts, Narrow Aisle Reach Trucks and Overhead Cranes.
Experience in SAP WMS, SAP ERP or other Warehouse Mgmt. systems would be an asset
Experience in operating HIAB crane or Overhead crane would be an asset
Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Ability to multi-task, with strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong problem solving and analytical skills; Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
Dependability – is reliable and counted on to get the work done; able to work with limited supervision
Collaborating – builds positive relationships and interacts effectively with others
Leadership - shares relevant knowledge and experience and promotes morale, safety, and productivity
Customer Service and Trust – provides timely and effective services. Builds credibility and trust with customers and treats them respectfully and professionally

Follows policies and procedures of Toronto Hydro, including letters of instruction and department practices
Availability to work overtime and stand-by to support emergency requirements
