QA Engineer with DevOps ExperiencePosition Overview
We are seeking a QA Engineer with DevOps experience to help ensure the quality, reliability, security, and performance of our software throughout the development lifecycle.
This role combines traditional software quality assurance with modern DevOps practices. The successful candidate will design and execute test strategies, build and maintain automated testing frameworks, support CI/CD pipelines, and work closely with developers and infrastructure teams to improve release quality and deployment reliability.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working across application testing, test automation, cloud environments, deployment pipelines, and production troubleshooting.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Assurance & Testing
- Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scenarios.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, API, system, and end-to-end testing.
- Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects through resolution.
- Collaborate with developers and product teams to understand requirements, acceptance criteria, and potential risks.
- Participate in requirements reviews, sprint planning, technical discussions, and release readiness activities.
- Validate new features and bug fixes across development, staging, and production-like environments.
- Conduct exploratory testing to identify issues not covered by predefined test cases.
- Assist with performance, load, reliability, and security testing where required.
- Monitor quality metrics and recommend improvements to development and testing processes.
Test Automation
- Design, develop, and maintain automated testing frameworks and test suites.
- Automate regression, API, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Analyze automated test failures and distinguish application defects from infrastructure or test-environment issues.
- Improve test coverage while reducing repetitive manual testing.
- Maintain reusable test utilities, test data, mocks, and supporting scripts.
DevOps & CI/CD
- Support the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines.
- Help automate application build, testing, deployment, and validation processes.
- Work with development teams to improve deployment reliability and release automation.
- Maintain and troubleshoot development, QA, staging, and test environments.
- Assist with containerized application environments using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Support infrastructure-as-code and configuration management practices.
- Help implement automated smoke tests, health checks, and post-deployment validation.
- Investigate pipeline failures, environment issues, application logs, and deployment-related defects.
- Contribute to monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to release engineering, testing, and operational reliability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, software testing, or a related engineering role.
- Experience with both manual and automated software testing.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and software testing lifecycle.
- Experience testing web applications, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Experience with test automation technologies such as:
- Selenium
- Playwright
- Cypress
- Appium
- Postman/Newman
- REST Assured
- PyTest
- JUnit or similar frameworks
- Experience with at least one scripting or programming language such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Working knowledge of Git and modern source-control workflows.
- Practical experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or similar technologies.
- Experience working with Linux-based environments.
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized applications.
- Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Ability to troubleshoot applications using logs, monitoring systems, command-line tools, and diagnostic information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, ELK/OpenSearch, or Application Insights.
- Experience with performance-testing tools such as JMeter, k6, Gatling, or Locust.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, load balancing, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience testing microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with database technologies and SQL.
- Experience incorporating automated security or vulnerability testing into CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development practices.
- Experience supporting production releases or troubleshooting production incidents.
- Relevant cloud, DevOps, Kubernetes, or QA certifications are considered an asset.

Role Profile

Pay: $45,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
