Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Millwright to join our manufacturing and installation team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting company owned industrial machinery and equipment to ensure optimal production operations. This role is specific to the elevator industry. This role requires a strong mechanical background, electrical experience, and the ability to interpret schematics and technical manuals.

Duties

Install, align, and assemble elevator interiors (and personal lifts) using precision tools and techniques on various job sites.
Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on industrial equipment including metal shear, hydraulic press break, forklift.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, specifically to personal hoists, utilizing schematics and analysis skills.
Program and troubleshoot programmable logic controllers (PLCs) to support automation processes.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Conduct welding of sheet metal, electrical work, and other fabrication tasks as needed.
Assist in the manufacturing, assembly and installation of elevator interiors, specifically sheet metal.
Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents or injuries during maintenance activities.
Collaborate with team members to improve machinery efficiency and onsite installation efficiencies.

Requirements

Proven experience in industrial maintenance or manufacturing environments as a Millwright or similar role.
Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in welding, sheet metal, hydraulics, electrical systems (including low voltage), and schematics interpretation.
Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and CMMS software.
Electrical experience related to industrial systems is highly desirable.
Ability to analyze complex mechanical or electrical issues quickly and accurately.
Excellent communication skills in English for effective teamwork and documentation.
Customer service mindset when interacting with internal teams or external clients regarding maintenance and installation needs.
Knowledge of safety standards related to industrial maintenance operations. Lyft Surfaces was founded in 2017 and is the leading provider of custom elevator interiors for all of Alberta. We design, manufacture, install, service and maintain all types of elevator interiors from the very basic to the most elaborate. Our business is a mixture of industries, such as sheet metal, welding, glazing, finished carpentry, cabinet making, engineering and interior design. The most common materials we use are stainless steel, plastic laminate, particle board, back painted glass, mirror, and vinyl. We manufacture most of our own products in-house.

About the Open Position: Millwright / Installer

A millwright worker (elevator specific) uses industrial equipment to cut and form metal pieces following a specific set of parameters and engineering drawings. They are familiar with the general maintenance requirements of mechanical shear, hydraulic press, hydraulic and mechanical lifting devices.

An elevator interior installer (personal lift installer) will use common hand tools and power tools such as drills, circ saw, grinder, table saw, etc to professionally install the product to high quality standards.

Installers work in team of twos, with a van and all the required tools provided.

Installers will help manufacture and assemble parts in the shop.

This position will be a combination of maintenance and manufacturing work in the shop and onsite installation.

Position Details:

Position: Permanent Full Time Working Hours: Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm

Working Locations: Various sites Mostly in Calgary – with some out of town* work such as Edmonton

*Special payments and extras when working out of town

Shop location is just east of Chestermere

Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
