Position: Engaging Men Team LeadLocation: Anselma House (Kitchener), Haven House (Cambridge), and community-based locations across Waterloo RegionEmployment Status: Full-Time, Non-UnionHours of Work: 36 hours per week; varied shifts based on program and client needsCompensation: $70,410 annually

Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region (WCSWR) empowers and supports women* and children to move beyond violence by providing safe shelter, outreach services, prevention and education. We operate two shelters: Anselma House in Kitchener and Haven House in Cambridge. Our facilities operate on a 24/7 basis, and we pride ourselves in being more than shelter. We also offer a robust region-wide outreach support program which supports families who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence. Position Overview

This position is responsible to assist with the day to day operations of the Engaging Men Program as well as Prevention programming. The role mainly provides support and guidance for a team of counsellors working with men who have caused harm. Included in this role will be supporting intakes, screening, and referrals to the Engaging Men program. Further duties might include the management of volunteers, placement students, and grant and contract positions, when applicable.
The Engaging Men Team Lead will work closely with the Service Managers and Engaging Men team to provide support in managerial tasks, as well as coaching and consultation, with a goal of continuous improvement of the service programs. We are looking for a trustworthy, competent, professional individual who is self-directed, has courage of convictions, can consider an agency viewpoint and has a focus on client service. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude about the agency and our community partners. The team lead will be eager to test their leadership skills and willing to take on a challenge. The position is to support the Engaging Men and prevention programs, predominantly community-facing, therefore may work within numerous community locations.

Position Requirements

Education • BSW and/or MSW from a university of recognized standing; MSW preferred, or a commitment to pursuing MSW while in the position • Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, or commitment to attaining membership • Minimum two to three years of experience in the violence against women (VAW) sector, with demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience considered an asset • Thorough knowledge of advocacy, crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning based on the needs of abused women and their children

Continuous priority setting and flexibility is required due to the lack of control over crisis situations and in meeting the needs of multiple job expectations
Ability to coach and mentor staff
Perform administrative managerial duties
Solid understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion
Demonstrated sound judgment and the ability to be decisive in crisis situations
Strong organizational and time management skills
Current knowledge of and skills in accessing and utilizing appropriate community resources
Knowledge of conflict resolution practices and negotiation techniques, as well as the ability to facilitate meetings, direct situations and implement rules and guidelines
Knowledge of group processes and dynamics
Current knowledge of basic criminal and family law, the Child and Family Services Act and related legal issues and resources
Highly developed interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
Valid driver’s license, valid and sufficient insurance coverage and access to a reliable vehicle
