Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Sales & Estimating Lead to join our team. This is a customer-facing role focused on developing technical solutions for the construction industry, preparing accurate estimates and quotations, and helping customers solve complex water management challenges.
In addition to supporting new business opportunities, this role will serve as the internal owner of Stormtec's estimating and pricing systems, ensuring our tools remain accurate, scalable, and aligned with business needs. The successful candidate will work closely with Sales, Operations, Technical Services, Finance, and external partners to win profitable work and continuously improve our estimating processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Drive Sales & Build Client Relationships
- Engage with the construction industry including contractors, consultants, developers, and project stakeholders to understand project requirements.
- Develop and present water management solutions that address customer needs and environmental compliance requirements.
- Manage opportunities from initial inquiry through quotation, follow-up, and award.
Prepare Accurate Estimates & Proposals
- Review project drawings, specifications, environmental reports, and bid documents.
- Develop detailed, commercially competitive cost estimates and customer quotations.
- Identify project risks, assumptions, exclusions, and opportunities to maximize profitability.
- Apply commercial and risk analysis to inform go/no-go opportunity pursuit
Lead Estimating Systems & Pricing Tools
- Own and continuously improve Stormtec's estimating models, pricing tools, and costing systems.
- Maintain accurate rates, assumptions, and costing data to support reliable estimates.
- Establish best practices, controls, and documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Tailor quotes specifically for the needs of the construction industry
Support Team Success & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Project Management, Finance, and Technical Services to deliver winning solutions.
- Train and support team members on estimating processes and tools.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve quote turnaround times, and enhance system performance.
Qualifications:
Required:
- 3+ years of experience in construction estimating, technical sales, project costing, environmental services, equipment rental, water management, or a related industry.
- Strong understanding of construction procurement, tendering, and commercial project delivery.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with complex costing or pricing models.
- Experience interpreting drawings, project specifications, and bid documents.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to assess costs, pricing, margins, and project risks.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve productivity
Preferred:
- Experience in dewatering, temporary water treatment, bypass pumping, environmental remediation, or related industries.
- Knowledge of CRM and ERP systems.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, VBA, Office Scripts, or similar analytical tools.
- Post-secondary education in engineering technology, construction management, environmental technology, business, or a related field.
- Experience developing estimating procedures, standards, and training programs

Other stuff:
At Stormtec, an offer of employment is dependent on reference checks with direct managers/supervisors and background check, which mainly includes Canadian Criminal Check, Drug & Alcohol Test, and MVR check.
Compensation is comprised of a base salary between $85,000 to $95,000 plus commissions and bonus. OTE range is $116,000 to $131,000. This position will be based in office for the first 3-6 months, followed by hybrid arrangement based on company WFH policy.
