We are seeking a highly accomplished Senior Automation Solution Consultant for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier technical leadership capacity within the IT infrastructure operations and platform automation streams, specializing in designing, building, and deploying enterprise-grade Ansible automation across dual Windows Server and Enterprise Linux environments.
As a principal automation authority, you will bridge the gap between traditional manual infrastructure administration and scalable, self-healing automated frameworks. Operating in a high-volume operations setting, you will lead the transition to automation-first operations, automate complex patch management lifecycles, engineer event-driven remediation workflows, and reduce configuration drift. This position demands a seasoned expert who can write reusable Ansible playbooks, develop custom PowerShell and Bash scripts, integrate enterprise monitoring systems, and champion DevOps best practices across infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities
Enterprise Automation & Standardization
Design, build, and maintain enterprise-grade automation using Ansible across Windows Server and Linux environments.
Build reusable Ansible roles, playbooks, inventories, and automation frameworks aligned with corporate standards.
Establish automation governance, coding standards, source-controlled Git repositories, and detailed documentation.
Automate provisioning, configuration management, compliance enforcement, and operational workflows to eliminate manual administration.
Design and implement phased patch deployment strategies across environments, maintaining strict promotion discipline.
Automate end-to-end patch lifecycles leveraging Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager APIs, PowerShell modules, WSUS integration, and Automatic Deployment Rules.
Automate maintenance window execution, change sequencing, pre- and post-deployment validation, and rollback procedures.
Build approval-gated pipelines with reporting dashboards to ensure auditability, stability, and compliance.
Monitoring & Event Management
Design and implement event-driven automation workflows triggered by enterprise monitoring platforms.
Integrate monitoring platforms with automation frameworks and ITSM suites using REST APIs and webhooks.
Develop automated remediation runbooks for threshold-based and binary alerts to minimize manual NOC interventions.
Implement closed-loop automation, including automated ticket creation, status updates, and event feedback loops.
Define alert correlation, suppression logic, and escalation workflows to reduce event noise and improve mean time to resolution.
Windows & Linux Infrastructure Administration
Provide senior-level administration and support for Windows Server 2019 and 2022 environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and OS hardening.
Administer enterprise Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, or equivalent), performing installation, patch management, package management, and system upgrades.
Troubleshoot performance, networking, and system-level issues across both Windows and Linux infrastructure.
Support enterprise authentication integrations, backup configurations, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
Operational Excellence & Technical Leadership
Automate routine operational tasks and enforce continuous compliance to eliminate configuration drift.
Develop operational runbooks, automated recovery procedures, and participate in incident response and root-cause analysis.
Act as a technical lead for infrastructure automation, mentoring system administrators and promoting automation adoption.
Collaborate with security, architecture, and infrastructure teams to align automation with governance policies.
Qualifications
Core Technical & Infrastructure Experience
Ansible Automation Tenure: 7+ years of hands-on Ansible automation experience in production environments, including roles, playbooks, collections, and automation principles.
Windows Server Expertise: 7+ years of advanced administration experience with Windows Server 2012, 2019, and 2022 environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and core services.
Enterprise Linux Skills: 7+ years of experience administering enterprise Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, or equivalent), managing services, packages, and permissions.
Windows Automation Scripting: 7+ years of hands-on experience with PowerShell scripting and automating Windows environments using WinRM and Ansible Windows modules.
Linux Automation Scripting: 7+ years of hands-on experience with Bash or shell scripting for Linux environment automation.
Patch & Infrastructure Tooling: Solid experience with SCCM/MECM APIs, WSUS integration, Automatic Deployment Rules, Git version control, YAML, and ITIL change management processes.
Preferred Assets
Experience with Ansible Automation Platform, AWX, or Ansible Tower in large-scale environments (managing hundreds or thousands of servers).
Experience with security baselines, CIS hardening, or compliance automation.
Exposure to hybrid cloud environments (such as Microsoft Azure), virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), or Infrastructure as Code practices.
Public sector experience is considered a nice to have asset.
Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Red Hat Ansible Automation Certification, Microsoft Windows Server/Azure, or ITIL Foundation.
