We are looking for a Quality Engineering – Automation professional with strong hands-on experience in modern test automation. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring four days per week onsite at our/client's office in downtown Toronto.
The ideal candidate will have practical experience developing and enhancing automation frameworks using Playwright. The candidate should also have experience leveraging AI/GenAI tools to generate test cases, identify test scenarios, improve test coverage, and accelerate automation development.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable Playwright-based automation frameworks, preferably using TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Create automated tests for functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end testing.
- Apply automation design practices such as Page Object Model (POM), reusable components, fixtures, data-driven testing, and parallel execution.
- Use AI/GenAI tools to generate and enhance test cases and test scenarios, identify edge cases, and improve overall test coverage.
- Leverage tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar GenAI solutions to assist with automation code development, debugging, test-data generation, and optimization.
- Review and validate AI-generated test cases and automation code before implementation.
- Integrate Playwright automation into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Perform API testing using Postman, REST Assured, Karate, or comparable tools, as well as SQL-based backend and test-data validation.
- Execute smoke, functional, regression, integration, system, UAT, end-to-end, and cross-browser testing.
- Collaborate with developers, product owners, business analysts, and other Quality Engineering professionals in an Agile environment; analyze defects, document test results, contribute to quality metrics and release-readiness activities, and follow coding standards, automation best practices, and quality engineering principles.
