Delta’s international headquarters is located in Bismarck, North Dakota. Currently, our dedicated team consists of almost 100 employees, of which about half work within our headquarters office and the other half work remotely throughout the U.S. and Canada. POSITION SUMMARY
The Equipment Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and performing the maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment, vehicles, facilities, and infrastructure located at the Delta Marsh, Childs', and Minnedosa Field Station properties. Primary location being North of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba Canada. This position oversees equipment maintenance programs, supports capital and property improvement projects, and ensures Delta Waterfowl's assets remain safe, reliable, and operational.
Working closely with the Delta Marsh Property Director and field staff, the Equipment Project Manager coordinates maintenance priorities, manages equipment and facility projects, maintains maintenance records and inventories, and supports habitat management, water control, construction, research, and property operations while promoting a safe and productive work environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Plan, coordinate, and perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, servicing, and repairs on Delta Waterfowl equipment and machinery.
2. Maintain and repair trucks, trailers, UTVs, ATVs, tractors, skid steers, excavators, backhoes, dozers, Marsh Masters, Argo amphibious vehicles, pumps, generators, boats, small engines, and other equipment.
3. Develop and maintain equipment maintenance schedules, service records, repair logs, parts inventories, and maintenance documentation.
4. Coordinate maintenance projects, major repairs, and contractor services while assisting with the procurement of parts, tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
5. Manage workshops, maintenance facilities, storage buildings, and equipment yards to ensure safe, organized, and efficient operations.
6. Perform welding, fabrication, machining, and general facility maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting projects.
7. Coordinate and assist with the maintenance and improvement of roads, dikes, drainage systems, culverts, fences, gates, water control structures, pumps, buildings, and other property infrastructure.
8. Support habitat management projects, including mowing, cultivation, invasive weed control, seedbed preparation, seeding, brush clearing, tree removal, and water level management.
9. Coordinate the transportation of equipment, materials, and supplies between Delta Waterfowl properties and assist with the construction and maintenance of Hen Houses and other wildlife production structures.
10. Support research operations by preparing equipment and providing operational assistance as needed.
11. Lead or participate in maintenance planning meetings to establish priorities, coordinate projects, and identify equipment and facility needs.
12. Promote and maintain a safe work environment by ensuring compliance with established safety procedures, reporting hazards, and supporting the safe operation of equipment by staff and volunteers.
13. Perform seasonal property maintenance, including snow removal and ice management.
14. Assist with Delta Waterfowl events, hunts, volunteer projects, educational activities, and other organizational initiatives.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Certification in heavy equipment mechanics, agricultural mechanics, diesel equipment, industrial maintenance, or a related trade preferred. Equivalent combinations of education or experience will be considered.
3. Minimum of three (3) years of experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, construction equipment, or similar machinery.
4. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems.
6. Ability to coordinate multiple maintenance and construction projects while working independently.
7. Ability to safely operate heavy equipment, trailers, and shop equipment.
8. Commitment to safe work practices and the ability to obtain and maintain any licenses or certifications required to perform the duties of the position.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
2. Climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, crawl under equipment, and work in confined spaces.
3. Frequently bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
4. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, mud, snow, and insects.
5. Safely operate heavy equipment, machinery, power tools, and hand tools.
6. Respond to emergency maintenance situations outside normal working hours when necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is performed primarily outdoors in wetland, and wildlife habitat environments. Work includes managing and completing equipment maintenance, facility improvements, infrastructure projects, and habitat management activities. Seasonal overtime, weekend work, emergency response, and occasional travel between Delta Waterfowl properties are required to support operational needs.
