Full job description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to do full-cycle accounting activities along with overseeing a small team, for a commercial property management company here in Edmonton. This position plays a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting audit readiness, and maintaining strong accounting controls across day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate brings hands-on property accounting expertise and a strong understanding of reconciliations, budgeting, and period-end processes.

This role is with a very mature and stable organization that can provide very good work / life balance.

Responsibilities:

Oversee complete accounting operations for commercial property accounts, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and on schedule.
Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules, with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and clear variance analysis.
Coordinate year-end audit preparation by organizing documentation, responding to auditor requests, and resolving outstanding items efficiently.
Perform and review account reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and implementing corrective actions when needed.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities by compiling financial data and monitoring performance against plan.
Manage payroll-related accounting tasks and ensure associated entries, balances, and records are maintained correctly.
Produce consolidated financial information for multiple entities or properties as required for internal and external reporting.
Review accounting outputs and internal processes to strengthen compliance, consistency, and financial accuracy.

Requirements:

Demonstrated experience in full-cycle accounting, preferably within commercial property management or real estate environments.
Strong ability to prepare monthly and year-end financial statements, including consolidated reporting where applicable.
Proven background in account reconciliations, audit preparation, and maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
Proficiency with accounting software systems and a solid understanding of financial controls and reporting workflows.
Experience contributing to budget development, financial review processes, and variance analysis.
Knowledge of payroll accounting and the related impact on general ledger and financial reporting.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced accounting environment.
