Whitemud Ironworks Limited is a fully integrated steel fabricator and erector that specializes in structural and miscellaneous steel projects in the commercial sector. We are recognized as an industry leader for our quality and scope of work. Due to our reputation, we have grown substantially over the past 20+ years. Today, Whitemud has established construction crews and three fabrication facilities totaling over 100,000 square feet!
What you will do…
We're looking for a detail-oriented professional who takes pride in supporting projects from the estimating stage through to successful completion. The ideal candidate thrives in a work environment that combines office-based estimating with hands-on collaboration alongside our shop and field teams, including occasional site visits.
In this role, you'll be reviewing structural drawings, calculating steel quantities, obtaining supplier pricing, and helping prepare accurate estimates, tenders, and change order pricing. You'll need the ability to work through incomplete information.
We're seeking someone who is highly organized and excels at managing multiple priorities, tracking project documentation, and ensuring deadlines are met. You'll build strong working relationships with project managers, detailers, fabricators, suppliers, subcontractors, and clients to keep projects moving efficiently from bid to completion.
The right candidate takes initiative, communicates effectively, and consistently looks for ways to improve processes while delivering exceptional service to both internally and externally. What you have done…
The successful candidate will have completed post-secondary education in Construction Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, along with at least 2–5 years of experience in structural steel estimating, project coordination, or commercial construction.
You're able to confidently read and interpret structural drawings, with a solid understanding of the construction process from estimating through to project completion.
Experience preparing quantity take-offs, calculating steel quantities, obtaining supplier pricing, and assisting with estimates and change order pricing is considered a strong asset.
You're proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, and experience with estimating software, Bluebeam, Tekla, FabTrol, AutoCAD, or similar construction software is an asset.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with strong analytical and mathematical skills. You communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and project teams, and are able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Previous experience with structural steel fabrication and erection projects is considered a strong asset.
