Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.
Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.
Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor, Mill Maintenance to join our Mount Milligan Mine team.
Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent, this role supervises maintenance technicians, welding technicians, apprentices, and contractors while supporting planning, execution, reliability improvement, and crew development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead daily maintenance execution with a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, and crew accountability.
- Plan, coordinate, and delegate work to achieve team and individual results across planned, break-in, and shutdown activities.
- Ensure quality field-level risk assessments, JHAs, permits, and LOTO practices are completed and verified before work begins.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with Operations, Planning, Reliability, Warehouse, and contractor resources to reduce delays and improve schedule compliance.
- Use SAP S/4HANA or equivalent CMMS tools to review work orders, confirm job readiness, support backlog management, and provide accurate execution feedback.
- Apply risk-based decision making to prioritize work based on safety exposure, equipment criticality, production impact, environmental risk, and work complexity.
- Support reliability improvement through defect identification, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, PM optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coach, mentor, and develop tradespeople and apprentices while maintaining clear expectations for performance, conduct, and workmanship.
- Support budget and cost control through effective labour allocation, contractor oversight, material coordination, and responsible resource use.
- Develop, maintain, and reinforce operating procedures, maintenance standards, and safe work practices.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following skillset and experience:
- Red Seal Millwright, Welder, or equivalent heavy industrial maintenance background preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of journeyperson or equivalent maintenance experience, with 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Mining, milling, fixed plant, or other heavy industrial maintenance experience considered an asset.
- Current British Columbia Supervisor Certification, or ability to obtain.
- Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA or equivalent CMMS, including work orders, notifications, backlog review, and maintenance history.
- Experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, shutdown execution, contractor coordination, and material readiness.
- Practical understanding of reliability practices such as PM effectiveness, condition monitoring, root cause analysis, and defect elimination.
- Budgeting, cost awareness, and expense management experience.
- Strong communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to adjust to rapidly changing priorities while maintaining safety, quality, and production focus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
- Self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Working Conditions
- Camp-based role working 12-hour days on a 7 day on, 7 off or 14 day on, 14 day off rotation, with accommodation provided during rotation.
- Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, heavy equipment, noise, and moving parts.
- PPE always required.
- Safety-sensitive environment with zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy.
- Bus transportation provided from regional locations.
