Job Summary

We are seeking an Assistant Controller for a full-time permanent opportunity in Surrey. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who wants broad exposure to financial reporting, compliance, inventory accounting, cross-border operations, and process improvement within a growing wholesale, import-export, distribution, or consumer goods environment.

The Assistant Controller will support the Controller in managing day-to-day accounting operations across Canadian and US entities. This is a strong opportunity for someone who thrives in a lean, collaborative finance team where initiative, ownership, accuracy, and business partnership are valued.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with ASPE and IFRS, as applicable.
Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, working papers, and supporting schedules.
Prepare variance analyses comparing actual results to budgets and prior periods, with clear explanations of key business drivers.
Oversee accounts payable processing, including review of automated and manual ERP entries for accuracy and policy compliance.
Manage landed cost accounting for international container shipments, including freight, duties, customs clearance charges, and related vendor costs.
Support tax compliance, audits, payroll compliance coordination, internal controls documentation, and ongoing finance process improvements.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: CAD $100,000 to $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Employment Type: Full-time, direct hire.
Location: Surrey, British Columbia.
