COMPANY OVERVIEW

FreshPoint, a division of Sysco, is the largest produce distributor in North America, we focus on bringing fresh food from the farmer’s field to our customers’ kitchens. FreshPoint operations span more than 30+ distribution centers in the US and Canada. We target regional and national foodservice customers in such markets as catering, healthcare, hospitality, restaurants, and schools. ABOUT THE ROLE

Purpose

This position handles raw material processing including washing, spin drying and operating food processing machinery. This is a physically demanding role which requires working in a wet and cold environment.

Responsibilities

Arrange, organize, and transfer raw material.
Wash and spin dry raw material using spin drying machine.
Lift up to 70 lbs or more on a frequent basis to transfer or palletize product.
Assist in inspecting food quality to
Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.

Experience

0-1 years of experience
Previous experience in food processing or warehouse distribution considered an asset.
Previous experience operating power equipment such as a Forklift is considered an asset.

Physical Demands

High repetitive stretching, lifting and bending.
Reasonable accommodations will be taken where necessary
Repetitive handle 50 to 80 lb (70%).
Operate food processing machinery (20%).
Organize product includes transportation by pallet jack in production area and wrapping pallet (10%).
Noisy environment, hearing protection provided.
Wet and cool environment (4 to 7 degrees Celsius, 100%)
May require operating Rider and Manual pallet jack.
