Reporting to the Manager, Information Technology, the IT Support Specialist serves as a key member of the IT team and a trusted resource for employees across the organization. This role is responsible for providing responsive technical support, managing and prioritizing service requests, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the reliability of critical technology systems.
Beyond day-to-day support, the successful candidate will contribute to system administration, cloud-based technologies, cybersecurity best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery across the organization. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support requests, logging, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents.
- Provide first-level and advanced technical support for hardware, software, access, and network issues.
- Escalate complex issues to internal IT staff or vendors and track resolution to completion.
- Configure and set up employee equipment, ensuring proper installation of operating systems, software, and security tools.
- Support onboarding and offboarding, including account creation, permissions, device provisioning, and deactivation.
- Administer Active Directory and Microsoft 365 accounts, including password resets and group management.
- Assist in purchasing IT hardware, software, and supplies, maintaining inventory and asset records.
- Support Windows OS, server, and network infrastructure maintenance, monitoring, and upgrades.
- Assist with network security, access controls, system backups, disaster recovery, and cloud platform support (Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Salesforce, UKG).
- Participate and/or support in system administration, development projects, and web/cloud integration initiatives, including APIs and custom forms.
- Document IT processes and create knowledge base articles; proactively recommend process improvements and technical solutions.
- Ensure new technologies have appropriate documentation, support plans, and training for successful deployment.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Completion of college courses or programs in computer science, programming, or network administration, or equivalent experience.
- Certifications in Microsoft products, servers, or network technology are an asset.
- Minimum two years of relevant IT experience; Service Desk Technician experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, software, server backup tools, and troubleshooting tools (Task Manager, Reliability Monitor, Device Manager).
- Familiarity with network infrastructure (routers, switches, wireless access points, cabling).
- Experience with Azure, SharePoint, Salesforce, or other cloud-based platforms.
- Experience in system administration, development, or IT project support preferred.
- Proficiency in PHP and Python is an asset.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain technical solutions clearly.
- Team-oriented, self-aware, and committed to organizational goals.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Moderate to extreme mental effort for problem-solving, incident management, and high-pressure situations.
- Moderate physical effort, including keyboarding, data entry, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Flexibility to work outside regular business hours, including weekends.
- Prolonged periods of sitting in front of computer monitors.
