The Functional Analyst plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the CanImmunize suite of products within the Public Health Information Solutions (PHIS) program. This position works closely with program leadership and cross functional teams to ensure the smooth functioning of digital health systems used by healthcare providers across the province. Acting as a central point of coordination, the analyst monitors system performance, manages incoming support requests, and responds to incidents, including serving as the primary contact for major system issues. The role also contributes to improving user experience by identifying trends, recommending enhancements, and supporting ongoing system optimization efforts.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Gather and document business requirements, ensuring mutual understanding and agreement.
- Lead design workshops with subject matter experts, capturing key decisions.
- Define and document data models, configuration designs, and developer specifications, producing high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate with developers to clarify designs during implementation.
- Prepare and execute test plans for functional and integration (system) testing.
- Plan and conduct regression testing and support user acceptance testing, assisting in defect resolution.
- Follow established delivery processes, design principles, and standards.
- Identify and report issues and risks to the Project Manager, assisting in corrective actions.
- Provide progress updates, including estimates to complete, and suggest solutions for schedule or quality risks.
- Assist with deployment and post-release testing in production.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- Significant experience (7+ years) in software delivery processes, from business requirements, elicitation, translating requirements into functional designs and testing protocols that ensure quality targets are met.
- Proven workshop planning and facilitation skills. Experienced presenter.
- Excellent communicator with an ability to see things from other points of view.
- Experience designing screens and/or reports and/or web services.
- Proficiency in mockups, and user flows.
- Experience developing and executing software testing activities, including Functional
- Testing, System Integration Testing (SIT), and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven writing skills. Experienced producing business / technical documentation.
Beneficial qualifications include:
- Experience designing digital services for public sector or citizen-facing applications.
- Experience conducting usability testing and interpreting user research findings.
- Experience working within Agile, Scrum, or product delivery teams.
- Experience designing screens and/or reports and/or web services in either ICM or LaMPSS.
- Experienced creating SQL-based queries.
- Experience developing test strategies, test plans, and requirements traceability.
- Experience providing quality assurance oversight, including Functional Testing, SIT, UAT, and defect management.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,000–$125,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
