Summary
Reporting to the Team Lead, Component Repair, the Component Repair Accessories Technician is responsible for supporting the testing, assembly, and evaluation of accessory-related components and systems. This role performs hydrostatic pressure testing, airflow rig operations, assembly activities, and provides support to the Metallurgical Laboratory. The technician ensures all testing and assembly processes are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
Duties
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Testing and Evaluation
- Perform hydrostatic pressure testing of components and assemblies in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
- Set up, operate, and maintain airflow rig equipment to support product validation and performance testing.
- Accurately record, analyze, and document test results.
- Troubleshoot testing issues and communicate findings to Engineering.
Metallurgical Laboratory Support
- Prepare metallurgical samples by performing material sectioning, epoxy mounting, grinding, and polishing of material coupons in accordance with laboratory procedures and quality standards.
- Assist with material evaluations, inspections, and laboratory documentation.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, work areas, and testing records in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
Assembly Operations
- Perform the mechanical assembly and disassembly of components, test fixtures, and related equipment.
- Follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and assembly procedures.
- Inspect completed assemblies to verify compliance with quality requirements and specifications.
Accessories Program Support
- Support current and future accessories-related projects and product lines.
- Assist with the development, testing, evaluation, and continuous improvement of accessory components and systems.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Laboratory personnel to achieve project objectives.
Safety and Quality
- Work closely with the Human Resources (HR) and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) departments to understand and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Lead by example by demonstrating a positive commitment to company policies and promoting departmental engagement and compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by providing recommendations on policies, procedures, productivity, and operational effectiveness.
- Take ownership of HSE-related matters and actively support a strong safety culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead, Component Repair, or designate.
Additional Requirements
- This position requires participation in a shift rotation that includes both day and evening shifts.
- Candidates with industry experience working with aerospace hydraulic, pneumatic, or electronic systems are preferred.
- While not required, previous experience as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) will be considered an asset.
- Flexibility and teamwork are essential at TransCanada Turbines. Employees are expected to assist with various activities, as required, to support the changing demands of customers in the gas turbine repair and overhaul industry.
