About the Opportunity
Trillys Systems is assembling experienced Software Functional Testers and Build Managers to support a multi‑year Government of Canada initiative focused on maintaining, testing, and evolving critical national data collection platforms.
This engagement includes two specialized streams: Lawful Intercept System Testers and Build Managers. These roles are essential to ensuring secure, reliable, and standards‑compliant system functionality within a scalable, business‑aligned technology environment.

- Location: Ottawa, ON (On‑site)
- Contract Duration: Multi‑year (up to 5 years)

Available Streams
Stream 1 — Lawful Intercept (LI) System Tester
What You’ll Do
- Write software quality assessment test plans
- Perform system, software, database, and hardware configuration & setup
- Execute software, system, integration, regression, end‑to‑end, and security testing
- Debug technical issues and document findings
- Monitor and document test results and defects
- Write test scripts and utilities
- Develop acceptance test plan documentation
- Track bugs, features, and improvement issues
- Produce reports, technical documentation, presentations, and briefings
- Present documentation using SDLC standards
- Work autonomously or collaboratively as required
- Provide regular updates to the Project Authority
You’re a Fit If You Have
Senior Level
- Degree/diploma in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or computer‑related field
- 10+ years performing functional software testing
- Experience using datastores (Oracle, MySQL, Solr)
- Experience scripting (Java, Groovy, Bash, Python)
- Experience providing engineering support
- Experience with iterative/incremental development
- Experience testing UI in Windows environments
- Experience using software/networking tools (Splunk, Wireshark)
- Experience with telephone protocols and ASN.1 BER‑encoded data
- 5+ years working with virtualized environments (VMWare)
- 5+ years integration testing using developer‑built tools
Intermediate Level
- Degree/diploma in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or computer‑related field
- 5+ years performing functional software testing
- Experience using datastores (Oracle, MySQL, Solr)
- Experience scripting (Java, Groovy, Bash, Python)
- Experience providing engineering support
- Experience with iterative/incremental development
- Experience testing UI in Windows environments

Stream 2 — Build Manager
What You’ll Do
- Perform system, software, database, and hardware configuration & setup
- Maintain build systems and automated test systems
- Assist in merging and branching code
- Document system, software, database, and hardware configuration & setup
- Execute some system, integration, regression, end‑to‑end, and/or security testing
- Monitor and document testing results and defects
- Write scripts or utilities
- Produce documentation related to release cycles
- Track bugs, features, and improvement issues
- Write reports, technical documentation, presentations, and briefings
- Present documentation using SDLC standards
- Work autonomously or collaboratively
- Provide updates to the Project Authority
You’re a Fit If You Have
Senior Level
- Degree/diploma in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or computer‑related field
- 10+ years performing functional software testing
- 5+ years build management experience (merging, branching, conflict resolution)
- Experience using datastores (Oracle, MySQL, Solr)
- Experience scripting (Java, Groovy, Bash, Python, OS scripting)
- Experience providing engineering support
- Experience as a build manager with iterative/incremental development
- Experience maintaining automated testing environments
- Experience using build tools (Git, GitLab, Ant, Sourcetree)
- Experience maintaining release notes
- 5+ years working with virtualized environments (VMWare)
Intermediate Level
- Degree/diploma in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or computer‑related field
- 5+ years performing functional software testing
- 3+ years build management experience
- Experience using datastores (Oracle, MySQL, Solr)
- Experience scripting (Java, Groovy, Bash, Python, OS scripting)
- Experience providing engineering support

- Software testing, system configuration & setup, system security
