We're growing and looking for a GIS Developer to join our team. In this role, you'll build and maintain the spatial data processes that sit at the heart of our organization, and help manage the GIS infrastructure that enables them. Your work contributes to both geospatial data delivery for clients and the development of our first-party applications. Reporting to the Data Services Manager, the GIS Developer is central to advancing Geologic's geospatial data offerings. You should have a strong geospatial and ETL foundation, with an inclination for curiosity, and the desire to grown and learn.
How will you spend your day?

Developing and maintaining critical projects, spanning both operational needs and the product roadmap

Working with new and existing spatial data to analyze, model, and explain the meaning of data to other teams and departments

Analyzing and identifying source data to develop new layers
-
Designing, validating, and implementing geospatial layers, including metadata
-
Building ETL processes to ingest and process data into Oracle, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server repositories

Helping manage our ArcGIS and GeoServer environments

Installation, configuration and monitoring GIS data loads and scheduled jobs
-
Creating, modifying, documenting and maintaining custom scripts and routines for GIS data processes

Troubleshooting operational issues across both spatial and non-spatial data processes

Collaborating across technical and business teams to discover and deliver customer-centric solutions
Ready to Apply? Here's what we're looking for:

Post-secondary education in GIS, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience

4–6 years of experience in geospatial ETL and spatial data design
-
Strong Python skills, including ArcPy
-
Hands-on experience with the ArcGIS platform (ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Server / Map Services)

Experience with FME Form / Desktop
-
Experience loading spatial layers into an enterprise geodatabase (Oracle SDE or similar)
-
Comfortable working with data in at least one enterprise database (Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL)

A solid understanding of geospatial coordinate systems, map projections, and transformations

Experience developing ETL and validation/monitoring scripts

Superior problem-solving and analytical skills
Nice to Haves:

Experience with GeoServer

Familiarity with Canadian oil and gas data

Experience working across more than one of Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL

Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle

Esri Server Object Extension development (ArcMap Runtime and/or ArcGIS Pro Enterprise SDK)
