Role Overview
The Apparel Fit Technician/ Merchandizing Assistant supports the end-to-end apparel product lifecycle, working closely with the Product Manager and Merchandising Manager to ensure collections align with the brand vision, market trends, customer needs, and business objectives.
This role combines technical apparel expertise with merchandising and administrative support. The successful candidate will help ensure garments meet required standards for fit, construction, quality, and wearability while supporting product information management, sample coordination, assortment preparation, and seasonal deadlines.
The role acts as a key link between Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, Quality Control, Production, internal departments, and external vendors to deliver commercially relevant collections on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Fit Technician/ Product Development

Review design concepts and provide technical input on fabric selection, trims, garment construction, fit, function, wearability, and production feasibility.
- Create, update, and review tech packs to ensure specifications, measurements, construction details, and comments are clear and accurate for vendor execution.
- Evaluate development and fit samples against established body specs and identify concerns related to fit, measurements, construction, workmanship, fabric performance, and overall garment functionality.
- Conduct fit sessions with stakeholders and communicate revisions clearly to vendors and internal teams.
- Support grading reviews and help ensure consistent fit and proportions across the applicable size range.
- Review and approve bulk fabrics, trims, lab dips, and production submissions as required.
- Establish and maintain an organized library of seasonal fabrics, trims, lab dips, fit samples, sales samples, pre-production samples, and shipment samples.
- Review pre-production and shipment samples to verify compliance with approved fit, construction, workmanship, quality standards, and customer requirements prior to bulk production. Support the Merchandising Manager and Product Manager in identifying suppliers that meet cost, quality, capability, delivery, and sustainability requirements.
Merchandising Administration

Enter, maintain, and update product information in Excel, ERP, and other internal systems as required.
- Track style development, sample status, approvals, costing updates, production schedules, and delivery milestones throughout the product lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate internal trackers for inbound samples, courier shipments, approvals, and outstanding actions.
- Organize and manage product samples for seasonal line reviews, sales meetings, showroom presentations, photography, marketing initiatives, customer appointments, and trade shows.
- Support the preparation of assortment updates, product presentations, and seasonal merchandising materials as required.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding sample requests, costing updates, fabric information, testing requirements, approvals, production timelines, and issue resolution.
- Monitor the critical path to ensure product development, approvals, testing, production activities, and delivery milestones remain on schedule.
Quality Assurance, Compliance and Cross-Functional Support

Assist with product launches across the Charlie Paige portfolio by coordinating samples, line review preparation, showroom set-up, ticketing, photography, and other launch initiatives.
- Coordinate with Key accounts, Marketing, Operations, Product Development, and other internal teams to ensure accurate product information and samples are available when required.
- Review vendor self-inspection reports, testing results, quality documentation, and inspection findings to ensure compliance with company standards and product specifications.
- Coordinate with the Quality Control team to schedule inspections, review quality reports, and resolve product or production concerns.
- Work with internal teams and vendors to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Escalate concerns promptly when they may affect quality, cost, production schedules, or seasonal delivery timelines.
- Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with domestic and international vendors.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Product Development, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in technical design, product development, and sourcing.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, grading, fabric performance, and quality standards for knits and wovens.
- Proficiency with tech pack creation and technical sketches created in corresponding programs (Excel, Adobe Illustrator, PLM/ERP systems).
- Experience working with international vendors and knowledge of production cycles.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to bridge creative and commercial priorities.
- Detail-oriented, organized, with the ability to manage multiple styles and timeline in a fast-paced, collaborative deadline-driven environment.
- Proactive and collaborative, with the confidence to follow up with internal teams and external vendors to keep samples, approvals, and timelines moving.
- Experience working in ladies wear apparel (having additional experience with accessories, jewelry and footwear is strongly preferred).
- Knowledge of knitwear, wovens and outerwear is an asset.
