Job Title: Accountant / Bookkeeper (Childcare Center)

About Us:
Redwood Early Childhood Education is a growing childcare center committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children. As we expand, we are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to manage our financial operations and support administrative processes.

Position Overview:
The Accountant / Bookkeeper will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance, and supporting both financial and employee documentation processes. This role requires strong organizational skills, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced childcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

Manage accounts payable and receivable
Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and documentation
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Process payroll and ensure compliance with Canadian payroll regulations
Coordinate with external accountants for year-end reporting and tax filings

Employee Records & Documentation:

Maintain and organize employee files, contracts, and compensation packages
Track employee benefits, wages, and updates to employment agreements
Manage onboarding and offboarding financial documentation
Ensure all employee records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with regulations

DocuSign & Administrative Support:

Prepare, send, and manage documents through DocuSign (contracts, agreements, policy updates)
Track document completion and maintain digital records
Ensure proper filing and organization of all signed documents
Support administrative tasks related to compliance and record-keeping

Compliance & Reporting:

Ensure compliance with provincial and federal financial regulations
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee information
Assist with audits and internal reviews as needed

Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
Experience with payroll processing and financial reporting
Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
Experience with DocuSign or similar digital document platforms preferred
Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills
Knowledge of Canadian tax and payroll regulations is an asset
Experience in childcare, education, or small business environment is an asset

Work Schedule:

On-site preferred.
