Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Deliverables expected from the role:
- Database Modernization & Migration Assessments: Conduct legacy database profiling (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and deliver detailed cloud migration readiness and refactoring plans.
- Query Performance Benchmarks & Tuning Guidelines: Produce optimized execution plans, query rewrite documentation, and re-indexing strategies to reduce latency and infrastructure costs.
- Telemetry & Observability Dashboards: Build operational and health monitoring dashboards (using Azure Monitor, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana, or native cloud tools) tracking query latencies, I/O, and throughput.
- Capacity & Cost Optimization Reports: Regularly analyze cloud database resource utilization, recommend auto-scaling policies, and right-size compute/storage instances.
- IaC & Deployment Scripts: Create reusable Terraform/Bicep scripts or automated CI/CD pipelines for database provisioning, schema migrations, and configuration management.
