Description
Our client is looking for an experienced, high-impact Senior Agile Project Manager who blends strong, traditional project management rigor with modern agile execution. This is not a pure Scrum Master role. We need a delivery leader who excels at client navigation, stakeholder alignment, scope and financial management, and driving custom/bespoke software application development from initiation through close-out. You will manage complex delivery streams, lead resource and budget planning across multiple projects, and foster trusted partnerships with both internal technical teams and client leadership.
Responsibilities
- 1. Initiate & Plan
-
Scope Confirmation: Confirm and baseline project scope with the client, ensuring all critical discovery inputs, requirements, and deliverables are fully aligned.
-
Integrated Project Planning: Establish overall project scope, detailed schedules, resource allocations, and robust communication strategies across all workstreams.
-
Stakeholder & Governance Setup: Identify key internal and client stakeholders; set up governance cadences and delivery checkpoint gates.
-
Risk Management: Proactively identify project, delivery, and interdependency risks to construct a comprehensive Risk Management & Mitigation Plan.
-
2. Execute & Deliver
-
Direct Work Activities: Lead day-to-day work activities for custom/bespoke application engineering and delivery teams.
-
Quality Assurance: Ensure all project deliverables meet strict internal quality standards and client expectations.
-
Active Stakeholder Management: Effectively communicate with stakeholders at all organizational levels to gain consensus, drive key decisions, and navigate changes without formal authority.
-
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure project execution complies with all relevant legislation, regulatory frameworks, and client-specific operational rules.
-
3. Monitor & Control
-
Progress & Quality Validation: Track and report on milestones, task completion, and overall build quality.
-
Scope & Change Control: Formally manage project scope, change requests (change records), statements of work (SOWs), and schedule variance.
-
Resource & Budget Management: Manage resource commitments, resolve team allocation conflicts, and maintain strict control over project budgets across multiple concurrent engagements.
-
DevOps & Delivery Tooling: Utilize Azure DevOps Boards (acting in both Product Manager and Scrum Master capacities) to manage product backlogs, iterations, and enhancement roadmaps for custom applications.
-
Status Reporting: Maintain accurate project records and provide transparent reporting on progress, risks, and health to Program Managers, Directors, and executive client leaders.
-
4. Close-Out & Continuous Improvement
-
Project Closure: Conduct formal project close-outs according to client protocols and contractual agreements.
-
Lessons Learned: Partner with the Program Support Team to identify, document, and implement delivery and methodology improvements for future engagements.
Qualifications
-
8+ years of hands-on Project Management experience leading complex software development initiatives.
-
Custom / Bespoke Software Experience: Proven track record of delivering custom-built applications (not just off-the-shelf implementations or infrastructure rollouts).
-
Beyond Scrum Master: Demonstrated capability to manage budgets, resources, statements of work (SOWs), contracts, and client relationships alongside agile delivery mechanisms.
-
Methodology Expertise: Solid background in hybrid-agile and waterfall methodologies, knowing when and how to apply the right framework to the delivery context.
-
Resource & Financial Planning: Direct experience managing resource allocation, financial tracking, and budget forecasting across multiple parallel workstreams.
-
Azure DevOps Proficiency: Practical experience using Azure DevOps Boards to manage backlogs, user stories, and application enhancement roadmaps (low to medium complexity).
-
Contractual & Scope Management: Direct experience drafting, reviewing, and finalizing Statements of Work (SOWs), Project Charters, and formal Change Records.
-
Tooling: Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MS Project/Visio or equivalent) for formal documentation and client reporting.
-
Client Navigation & Soft Skills:
-
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
-
Proven ability to earn trust, build consensus, and influence diverse stakeholders without direct authority.
-
Practical, innovative, collaborative, and solution-focused approach to complex delivery challenges.
-
Assets / Nice-to-Haves
-
Experience working within regulated industries, specifically utilities and electricity transmission development.
