Job Overview

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented QA Supervisor to lead our quality assurance team in maintaining the highest standards of product quality and safety. In this pivotal role, you will oversee all aspects of quality control and inspection processes within our manufacturing environment. Your leadership will ensure that products meet rigorous specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive continuous improvement initiatives, foster a culture of quality, and contribute to the success of our manufacturing operations.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the QA Manager, the QA Supervisor oversees the daily quality assurance activities at the plant and helps maintain the food safety and quality programs. This role ensures total compliance with SQF, regulatory (CFIA/FDA), and customer standards for products distributed across Canada and the United States. The QA Supervisor conducts plant inspections, supports employee training, prepares for internal, SQF, customer, and regulatory audits, and works with plant management to investigate nonconformances and implement corrective actions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position ensures our products meet applicable food safety, quality, labelling, traceability, and documentation requirements for SQF certification and for customers and regulators in both Canada and the United States. To achieve that:

Conduct pre-op, in-process, and post-op plant inspections.
Promote and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) across the plant.
Perform online process, weight control, and label verification checks.
Routinely conduct sensory evaluation on new and existing egg containing products for compliance to organoleptic specifications.
Monitor raw materials, packaging, and proper ingredient storage.
Ensure the metal detector verification is conducted and investigate rejected products.
Maintain SQF, HACCP, Kosher, and Non-GMO documentation.
Schedule and support internal, SQF, customer, and regulatory audits.
Manage approved supplier records including food safety document collection and verification such as questionnaires, specifications, letters of guarantee, audit documents
Support the onboarding of new suppliers.
Manage the hold procedure for non-compliant ingredients, packaging and products
Identify root causes of non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
Collect and submit product samples for external laboratory analysis.
Investigate customer complaints
Prepare reports/summaries and communicates results to QA Manager and others as necessary.
Complete and organize QA records, inspection results, verification records, audit findings, holds, corrective actions, and related reports accurately and on time.
Conduct verification and proper functioning of testing equipment such as thermometers and scales.
Assist with the development and delivery of Quality and Food Safety Training for manufacturing teams.
Participate in plant trials and first production runs.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of post-secondary education with a degree or diploma in Food Science, Microbiology or related fields.

3 - 5 years of QA Supervisory experience in a food processing environment.
Previous experience working in a BRC or SQF and HACCP certified facility.
Certified SQF Practitioner.
Certified Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Experience with ERP systems like Syspro is a strong asset.
Expertise in root cause analysis and problem-solving.
Strong organizational, prioritizing, and time-management skills.
Ability to deliver effective employee training.
Excellent independent and team-based work ethics
Positive & Professional approach with willingness to learn.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Standing and/or walking for prolonged periods of time.
Occasionally lifting and/or pushing up to 40Ibs.
Completing repetitive tasks (e.g., hand packing, loading a slicer) from time to time.
Sitting to complete communications and documentation as required.
Flexibility required to support dynamic production schedules that may include extended hours, afternoons or weekends

Temperature controlled production areas.
Constant aroma of baked crisps (fruits, nuts, baked batter).
Access to production floor and office lunchrooms.

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour
