THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Mechanical Assembler is highly energetic and has excellent mechanical dexterity. This individual has the ability to perform assembly tasks that require refined fine motor skills and interpret assembly work instructions. This candidate will have considerable initiative to multitask in a fast paced work environment and possess the basic qualifications outlined below.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assemble electronic mechanical devices with the aid of small power tools
- Mount assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets on Printed Wiring Board (PCB)
- Install finished assemblies or sub assemblies in cases and cabinets
- Perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating, and color-coding parts and assemblies
- Perform online go-no-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards
- Interpret detailed work instruction
- Participate and adhere to DSM safety policies and practices
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 – 2 years previous related experience and/or training
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, engineering drawings, and short correspondence
- Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization
- Strong drive and motivation to achieve success
- Initiative for identifying opportunities for improvement
- Class 2 or Class 3 soldering is an asset
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with speed and accuracy
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Availability for shift work
