ROHI Engineering Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Designer / Project Lead to join our growing team in Ponoka, Alberta.
We’re looking for someone with strong technical skills, practical experience, and a collaborative approach to project delivery. The successful candidate will have extensive experience with Civil 3D, municipal infrastructure, transportation projects, and Alberta Transportation standards.
You’ll initially work from our Ponoka office to become familiar with our team, projects, and processes. Once established, we’re happy to discuss a flexible hybrid work arrangement.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to Senior Management, you will:
· Lead civil engineering projects from preliminary design through detailed design and construction support.
· Coordinate project deliverables with engineers, designers, survey crews, subconsultants, and clients.
· Prepare preliminary and detailed civil engineering designs.
· Complete site assessments and field inspections.
· Review designs and provide technical guidance and quality control for project teams.
· Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, tender documents, and construction specifications.
· Develop stormwater management plans and drainage strategies.
· Prepare technical reports, proposals, and supporting documentation.
· Produce and oversee Civil 3D models and detailed construction drawings for:
o Highways
o Municipal roads
o Land development
o Stormwater infrastructure
· Support field survey crews with construction layout, topographic surveys, and quantity surveys.
· Mentor junior designers and technologists, providing technical guidance and professional development.
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with municipalities, developers, contractors, regulators, and private clients throughout Alberta.
· Assist Senior Management with project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
What We’re Looking For
· 10–15 years of progressively responsible civil design experience.
· Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
· Strong understanding of Alberta Transportation design standards and specifications.
· Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary civil engineering projects.
· Experience in:
o Municipal infrastructure
o Road and highway design
o Land development
o Stormwater management
o Environmental permitting
· Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
· Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
· High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
· Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative team environment.
· CET designation with ASET is considered an asset.
