We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused IT Service Technician – Level 1 who enjoys solving problems, learning new technologies and working as part of a collaborative team.
Previous IT experience is considered an asset, but it is not required. We welcome applications from recent graduates and individuals with a strong technical aptitude, excellent customer service skills and a genuine desire to build a career in information technology.
This position offers a variety of hands-on technical experience, including help desk support, computer and server deployments, network installations, VoIP systems and onsite client service. Position Summary
The IT Service Technician – Level 1 is responsible for providing remote and onsite technical support to Computrek clients. This includes assisting with network connectivity, computer hardware, operating systems, software applications and peripheral equipment.
The successful candidate will install, maintain and repair computers and related technology while providing professional, timely and courteous service to customers, vendors and fellow team members.
Training, guidance and escalation support will be available to help the successful candidate develop their technical knowledge and troubleshooting abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Level 1 help desk support by phone, email, remote connection and onsite visits
- Triage, document, prioritize and assign service tickets
- Diagnose and resolve common computer hardware, software, network and connectivity issues
- Install, configure and deploy desktop computers, laptops and peripheral equipment
- Assist with computer and server deployments
- Assist with the installation of routers, firewalls, switches and wireless access points
- Install and support VoIP equipment and related communication systems
- Assist with data cabling and onsite infrastructure projects
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding technical issues, progress and resolutions
- Track unresolved issues and escalate tickets when additional technical expertise is required
- Maintain accurate and complete service documentation
- Collaborate with other technicians to resolve issues and complete client projects
- Follow Computrek’s technical standards, security practices and service procedures
- Help maintain Computrek’s reputation for professional service and exceptional customer satisfaction
Qualifications
- Completion of, or current enrolment in, a post-secondary program in information technology, computer systems, networking or a related discipline is considered an asset
- Previous IT support or technical service experience is considered an asset but is not required
- Strong interest in technology and a desire to develop a career in IT
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills and a professional, positive attitude
- Ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical users
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to organize priorities and manage multiple service requests
- Willingness to learn new technologies, processes and systems
- Ability to work independently while seeking guidance and escalating issues when appropriate
- Industry certifications, such as CompTIA A+, Network+ or Microsoft certifications, are considered an asset
Technical Knowledge Considered an Asset
Familiarity, education or hands-on experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial:
- Windows desktop and server operating systems
- Microsoft 365 applications and services
- Network and server administration
- Local area and wide area networks
- Routers, firewalls and network switches
- Wireless access points
- VoIP systems
- Computer hardware and peripheral equipment
- Data cabling
- Remote monitoring and support tools
- Cybersecurity and endpoint protection solutions
Additional Requirements
- A valid driver’s licence is required
- Candidates must have access to their own reliable vehicle, as travel to client locations is required
- Participation in an on-call rotation is required
- Occasional work outside regular business hours may be required
- Candidates must be physically capable of safely lifting, carrying and moving computers, servers and other technical equipment
Compensation and Benefits
Computrek offers competitive compensation based on the successful candidate’s qualifications, education and experience.
The hourly wage for this position is CA$22.00–CA$28.00 per hour.
