Paving Foreman

Join our Team and gear up for an exciting career!

DeFord Contracting Inc. is looking for an experienced Paving Foreman for Civil Construction city projects in and around the Greater Edmonton Area. DeFord is a leading contractor in Edmonton, Alberta, specializing in municipal road projects, subdivision land development, parking lots, and other key infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

Supervise and coordinate all paving crew activities, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to project specifications.
Read and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications to ensure proper execution of work.
Oversee the placement, compaction, and finishing of asphalt to ensure quality standards are met.
Train, mentor, and support crew members to maximize productivity and maintain a safe work environment.
Ensure all labour, equipment, materials, and subcontractors are on site when necessary.
Input timesheets for crew members, equipment and quantities on a daily basis.
Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
Communicate effectively with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients.
Ensure materials, equipment, and labour are utilized efficiently and effectively.
Complete any documentation necessary such as hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, incident reports, etc..
Troubleshoot issues on-site and implement effective solutions to maintain project schedules.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience in paving, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license (Class 3 considered an asset) with a CLEAN driving abstract.
Extensive knowledge of asphalt paving processes, materials, and equipment operation.
Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and direct a crew.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project plans, and specifications.
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to workplace safety and a strong understanding of safety regulations.
