We are seeking a Quality Control Manager to join our Utopia facility. Reporting directly to the QC Director, this role combines the responsibilities of a Quality Verification Engineer (QVE) and QC Manager, providing engineering oversight, quality leadership, and hands-on support across daily QC operations.
The QC Manager will be responsible for technical reviews, engineering verification, compliance, documentation, audits, certification requirements, and oversight of QC personnel and priorities.
The successful candidate will be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Civil Engineering with strong knowledge of precast or construction and quality control. The individual must demonstrate sound technical judgment, effective leadership, and the ability to work collaboratively with Engineering and Production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and seal Certificates of Conformance and other engineering documents requiring P.Eng. authorization.
- Provide technical and quality leadership to ensure products comply with applicable standards and project specifications.
- Lead and support QC personnel in inspections, testing, product acceptance, documentation, and resolution of quality-related issues.
- Collaborate with Plant Management, Production, Engineering, and Operations to maintain product quality, consistency, and effective resolution of technical issues.
- Review, maintain, and implement quality procedures, SOPs, work instructions, inspection requirements, and quality records.
- Provide technical guidance, training, and development to QC personnel.
- Identify quality risks, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve product quality, consistency, and process efficiency.
- Lead non-conformance investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive actions.
- Maintain compliance with applicable standards and certification programs, including CSA, AWWA, NSF/ANSI 61, CPCQA, BNQ, and Schedule A.
- Support audits and certification renewals.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in precast, construction, or field quality/engineering.
- Strong knowledge of precast or construction.
- Previous experience supervising or managing personnel.
- Strong knowledge of applicable standards and specifications, including CSA A23.1/A23.2, CSA A23.4, and OPSS.
- Experience with quality management systems (QMS), NCRs, corrective actions, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to review and analyze specifications, shop drawings, inspection records, test results, and engineering requirements.
- Strong technical judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills, with effective communication and organizational abilities.
- Manage multiple priorities concurrently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Working at DECAST
- Range of pay for this position is $110,000 - $130,000 annually
