Residential Solar Representative — Independent Contractor (Paid Per Lead + Bonuses)

Company: Shield Solar Location: Calgary, AB (field-based, in person) Engagement type: Independent contractor, with the opportunity to move into a full-time role based on performance Availability expected: Weekday evenings, roughly 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM. You set your own hours within that window. Compensation: Paid per qualified lead, plus performance bonuses. Uncapped. Contractors currently in this role earn in the range of $50,000–$75,000 annually before taxes and expenses.

The Opportunity

Shield Solar is looking for self-directed independent contractors to generate residential solar leads across Calgary.

This is an appointment-setting role. You'll connect with homeowners in residential communities, explain whether solar might make sense for their property, answer their questions honestly, and book appointments for our Solar Advisors — who handle the quote and the sale. You are not closing contracts at the door.

Contractors who perform well have a path into Solar Advisor work and, for the right person, a full-time role with Shield Solar.

What the Work Involves

Canvassing residential Calgary neighbourhoods to introduce homeowners to solar
Explaining Shield Solar's products, services, and financing options accurately — without overstating savings, incentives, or payback periods
Generating qualified leads and booking appointments for Solar Advisors
Building rapport and answering basic questions professionally
Recording appointments and customer information accurately in the system we provide
Handling customer information confidentially
Honouring "no soliciting" signs and do-not-knock requests
Representing Shield Solar with integrity in every interaction — our reputation in these neighbourhoods is the business

Requirements

Legally eligible to work in Canada
Must be bondable. A clean criminal record check is required, as this work takes place in and around customer homes.
Valid Alberta driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
Own smartphone
Comfortable working outdoors on your feet in Calgary weather
No solar experience required — product training provided

Contractor Terms

This is an independent contractor engagement, not employment. That means:

You invoice Shield Solar for leads generated and bonuses earned
No source deductions are made — you are responsible for your own income tax, CPP, and GST registration if applicable
No vacation pay, statutory holiday pay, or employment benefits
You provide your own vehicle, phone, and transportation costs
You are responsible for your own insurance and WCB coverage arrangements
A written independent contractor agreement will be provided before you start
