Job description:

For over 25 years, Premier Elevator has designed, manufactured, and installed high-quality elevator interiors throughout Toronto, the Greater Toronto Area and across North America. As one of Canada's leading cab interior companies, Premier Elevator offers our clients innovative, custom design and exceptional solutions for their elevator cab interiors.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering the Architectural Engineer produces AutoCAD drawings of elevator cab interiors and components per provided specifications, revises drawings and accurately creates production drawings for shop manufacturing. The Architectural Engineer communicates with clients and suppliers to troubleshoot issues, obtain material selections, and confirm design/changes. They may also visit customer sites to take surveys, troubleshoot issues and attend meetings with clients and other contractors.

Job specifications:

Complexity/analysis

Ability to read elevator specifications, quotes and design/technical drawings as well as site surveys to produce accurate drawings
Technical detailing and ability to solve design problems
Develops creative solutions and alternatives to problems while following all applicable codes and legislation
Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organization with frequent changes to designs/material selections and multiple project commitments

Direction received

Receives direction from the Director of Engineering as well as the Executive Manager

Responsibilities/Accountability

Produces AutoCAD drawings of elevator cab interiors and components per provided specifications.
Revises drawings and accurately creates production drawings for shop manufacturing.
Communicates with clients and suppliers to troubleshoot issues, obtain material selections, and confirm design/changes.
Visit customer sites to take surveys, troubleshoot issues and attend meetings with clients and other contractors.
Ensures drawings and production sheets are completed accurately with strong attention to detail to ensure that interiors are manufactured correctly, and minimal waste of material occurs.

Inside/outside relationships

Project Coordination with Director of Engineering and Executive Manager, working with other Engineers, manufacturing shop and installation team.
Frequent contact with suppliers and customers via phone and email to obtain material specifications and technical information.

Instruction/Coordination

Provides instruction and assists in prioritizing work for other Engineers.
May provide verbal assistance to other contractors installing our products.

Position conditions

Largely sedentary position.
Some travel may be required throughout the GTA
Individual must have no concern with heights when visiting work sites
