Job Title: Molding Setup Technician / Supervisor

UGP Plastics is a custom injection molding manufacturer based in Ajax, Ontario, in business since 1954 and ISO 9001:2015 certified. We produce precision molded components for customers across automotive, retail display, and industrial markets. We're looking for a hands-on Molding Setup Technician / Supervisor to keep our molding operations running smoothly and efficiently while providing leadership on the shop floor.
What You'll Do
- Mount, set up, and remove molds on injection molding machines safely and efficiently
- Set and adjust process parameters (temperatures, pressures, cycle times, cushion, etc.) to bring jobs to a stable, repeatable running condition
- Perform material and color changeovers, purging, and dryer setup
- Run first-off / startup quality checks and hand off to operators once the process is qualified
- Troubleshoot process, mold, and machine issues during production to minimize downtime and scrap
- Supervise and support operators on the floor, providing direction and training as needed
- Prioritize changeovers and manage workflow to hit the production schedule and shipping commitments
- Assist with auxiliary equipment (robots, conveyors, grinders, temperature controllers)
- Document setups and parameter sheets; follow ISO 9001:2015 quality procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area (5S)
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of injection molding setup experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of the injection molding process and thermoplastic materials
- Ability to read setup sheets, work instructions, and basic prints
- Comfortable with hand tools, overhead cranes, and mechanical adjustments
- Mechanical aptitude and solid troubleshooting skills
- Leadership or supervisory experience an asset
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work independently on the afternoon shift
Nice to Have
- Experience with two-shot / multi-material molding, insert molding, or robotics
- Scientific molding / decoupled molding knowledge (RJG or similar)
- Forklift or overhead crane certification
