The Communications Advisor, Corporate Communications supports the planning, development and delivery of strategic internal and corporate communications that inform, engage and connect team members across Lakeridge Health.
Working in a fast-paced health-care environment, this role partners with leaders, clinical teams and corporate departments to develop communication strategies and content that support organizational priorities, operational initiatives, change management, and employee engagement.
While the primary focus is internal communications, the Advisor also contributes to initiatives including external communications, digital content, social media, media support and special projects as required. The role requires excellent writing skills, sound judgement, creativity, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while providing strategic communications advice to stakeholders across the organization.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Communications
" Develop and implement communications plans that support organizational priorities, operational initiatives, change management, and employee engagement.
" Provide strategic communications advice to leaders, project teams, and subject matter experts throughout the planning and implementation of initiatives.
" Identify communications risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate strategies and tactics.
Internal Communications
" Develop clear, engaging content for internal audiences, including all-team emails, intranet stories, leadership communications, presentations, key messages, FAQs, and briefing materials.
" Support organizational campaigns, events, recognition initiatives, and other employee engagement activities.
" Ensure messaging is aligned, consistent, accessible, and reflects Lakeridge Health's brand and values.
Digital and Corporate Communications
" Create and manage content for internal and external digital channels, including the intranet, website, social media, and e-newsletters.
" Collaborate with colleagues across Strategic Communications to deliver integrated communications that support corporate priorities.
" Support external communications, media responses, issues management, and executive communications, as required.
Relationship Management and Collaboration
" Build strong relationships with leaders, physicians, clinical teams, and corporate departments to understand communications needs and deliver effective solutions.
" Work collaboratively across the Strategic Communications team to coordinate messaging and support organization-wide initiatives.
Measurement and Continuous Improvement
" Monitor communications effectiveness using available analytics, feedback, and engagement data.
" Recommend improvements to communications strategies, channels, and content based on performance and emerging best practices.
Other Duties
" Participate in communications support for organizational emergencies and critical incidents, and events, including after-hours support, as required.
" Perform other related duties consistent with the scope and responsibilities of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
" Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related discipline.
" Three to five years of progressive experience in corporate or internal communications.
" Demonstrated experience developing and implementing communications strategies and plans.
" Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple communications channels.
" Experience managing intranet and web content management systems.
" Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communications best practices.
" Demonstrated ability to effectively integrate artificial intelligence (AI) tools into communications planning, research, and content development while applying sound editorial judgment, critical thinking, and ethical practices to enhance communications effectiveness.
" Proficiency in Microsoft Office and graphic design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
" Experience with photography, video, and multimedia content creation is considered an asset.
" Knowledge of accessibility (AODA), plain language and inclusive communications principles.
" Health-care and/or broader public sector communications experience is preferred.
