Payband I; Starting Rate: $40.39; Four Year Rate: $46.64
Department: Facilities Operations
Hours: 40 hours per week (1) one hour lunch; Mon – Fri
Reporting To: Manager, Utilities and Building Systems
Campus Location: Oshawa

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent performs skilled work in all the facets of the electrical discipline including installation, repair, preventative and predicative maintenance of equipment and associated systems. Advises management on practical, cost effective solutions for electrical projects and repairs. Provides pricing associated with new installations and repairs, coordinates and provides specifications to outside contractors involving larger projects. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining records of all electrical work to be reviewed and inspected on a quarterly basis by the Electrical Safety Authority.

Make repairs to any existing electrical services, fixtures, controls and ancillary equipment in all college facilities. Select equipment and control components compatible with existing systems.

Install new electrical services to Ontario Electrical standards.

Install and maintain controls for building automation system.

Provide operation support for building automation system technologist.

Research current technology for the purpose of designing and implementing new and modified electrical systems. Stay current with electrical code.

Investigate costs for system controls and devices. Estimate material quantities and costs for projects and repair activities.

Perform preventative maintenance procedures.

Document all work performed and update college manuals and the maintenance management system. Maintain current records for quarterly, mandatory Electrical Safety Authority inspections.

Provide specifications regarding equipment and methods/standards to contractors/trades workers. Monitor work performed by contractors and trades workers and report findings to the supervisor.

Provide technical support and information to staff as required.
Qualifications:

A minimum of a Certificate of Qualification for Electrician

Arc Flash Training
-
A minimum of 5-years of work experience with strong knowledge of electrical and electronic systems and equipment including lighting, HVAC, DDC control and Fire Alarm Systems.

Strong working knowledge of Ontario Building Code, Ontario Electrical Code and Building & Electrical permit requirements pertaining to new and repair activities.

Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
