Status: Temporary Full Time (12 months)
Department: LHAP LHO OBS Float Pool
Program: Women & Childrens Healthcare
DDNN - 12 Hour Shifts (Subject to Change)
Location: Lakeridge Health Oshawa & Ajax-Pickering
Wage Schedule: $41.150 - $58.980 per hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To use nursing process in providing patient care. To participate as a member of the Health Care Team and the Nursing Team. As an individual practitioner, to maintain competence and professionalism relevant to current practice. To maintain nursing records. Cross-training to Post-Partum required. Successful applicants will be required to work in the Labour and Delivery units at LHO, LHAP and LHPP.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);
Completion of a Perinatal Course or in process of completing (within two years of hire date) NOTE: an experienced perinatal nurse with two years of fulltime experience can challenge this course by writing the Canadian Nurses Association Perinatal Certification exam;
Current BCLS required;
NRP (within 3 months of hire) required;
previous experience in an acute care setting (Pediatrics, Labour and Delivery, NICU, Medicine, Critical Care, Surgery, Emergency or Operating Room) required; or recent (within 1 year) consolidation experience in Labour and Delivery, Postpartum, or Neonatal ICU required;
Experience in the scrub and circulating role for Caesarean births or enrolled in a Perioperative nursing course preferred;
Demonstrated commitment to maintain Reflective Practice Standards as outlined by the CNO;
Demonstrated effective organizational, problem-solving and teaching skills;
Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
Sound judgement, good observation and patient assessment skills, tact and empathy;
Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership/supervisory role;
Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork and Joy;
Must have a satisfactory performance record;
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff, patient and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
