CIMS LP (“CIMS) is seeking a dynamic, problem-solver with the ability to implement and support environmental, health and safety initiatives to fill the role of Safety Advisor (Casual). This is a field based role and will primarily be called upon to attend to short term projects and work that CIMS contracts with clients across Canada. Locations will vary. This position is temporary, project-based work with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate when a new position arises.
Students, entry-level, piece-work and part-time preferring individuals are encouraged to apply. When not on project, successful candidates will stay active in our system to facilitate fast assignments, as needs arise.
In the position of Safety Advisor you will be reporting to the Regional H&S Lead, expected to work closely with all internal stakeholders to implement and support all Health and Safety initiatives while you are assigned to work.
You will be accountable for:
- Working collaboratively to ensure that all H&S legislative and regulatory requirements are incorporated in to CIMS LP H&S practices consistently and effectively.
- Ensuring that CIMS’ Core Values and Guiding Principles are integrated into all business and safety practices.
- Supporting the on-site implementation of all CIMS Safety initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirement.
- Working collaboratively to improve H&S outcomes across the region.
- Providing H&S support, leadership and training to all on-site personnel and supervisors.
To qualify for this role, you must have:
- Occupational health and safety related professional development courses or equivalent experience.
- College or university level occupational health and safety related certificate. A diploma or degree would be an asset.
- NCSO, CRSP or other reputable safety designation would be an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial construction or other heavy industry sector preferred.
- Knowledge of emerging industry best practices: HOP principles, High Energy Hazards, Serious Injury & Fatality prevention methods.
- Experience with incident management and investigations.
- Experience with injury management and early and safe return to work practices.
- Collaborative, self-starting, team player willing to work towards achieving the strategic goals of the company.
- The ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
- Willingness to be available for work on short notice and willingness to travel outside your jurisdiction (costs are covered by the company).
- Valid driver’s license in your province of residence.

Pay: $35.00-$65.00 per hour
