About Us

Accounting For Law Inc. is a specialized accounting and bookkeeping firm dedicated exclusively to serving law firms across Canada. We are seeking an experienced Legal Bookkeeper who is organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while providing exceptional service to our legal clients.

If you have a strong background in legal bookkeeping and are proficient with legal accounting software, we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Perform monthly trust and general bank reconciliations.
Maintain compliance with the Law Society of Ontario trust accounting requirements.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Record billings, receipts, trust transactions, and disbursements.
Prepare and file HST returns.
Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts.
Prepare year-end working papers, financial reports, and assist with year-end financial statements.
Communicate professionally with clients to resolve bookkeeping inquiries.
Assist with onboarding new legal clients and accounting software implementations.
Perform other bookkeeping and accounting duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of legal bookkeeping experience in a law firm or legal accounting environment.
Thorough knowledge of Law Society of Ontario trust accounting rules and requirements.
Experience with one or more of the following:
Clio
Cosmolex
Actionstep
LEAP
QuickBooks Online
Strong understanding of trust accounting, general accounting, payroll, HST, and month-end procedures.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting multiple law firms.
Experience with legal practice management software conversions or implementations.
Familiarity with cloud-based accounting systems.
