Full job description

Kumon Centres provide Math and Reading enrichment for children in grades Pre-K to 12. Centre Assistants support the Instructor in various roles of instructional, administrative and centre management tasks. Job responsibilities are assigned based upon the Centre needs.

The position(s) are long term, part-time and may require you to work evenings and or on the weekends.

Our current schedule is: Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays: 3:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturdays: 10:00am to 2:00pm. ONLY APPLY IF YOU ARE AVAILABLE TO WORK AT THE STATED TIMES

Early Learner/Primary Instruction:

Working efficiently and effectively with one or two early learners or new Kumon students at a time to provide instruction using the Kumon Method and worksheets
Ensure proper study habits and work skills are being developed and train the students in Centre routine
Work closely with Instructor to develop and understand lesson plan and goals for each student in order to properly administer individualised instruction

Grading:

Grading of student classwork, homework, and corrections of student worksheets
Ensuring student classwork is completed and corrected to 100%
Assessing oral reading ability with Reading students and providing feedback
Provide assistance/guidance to students, as needed, adhering to Kumon Method standards and Centre procedures
Provide Instructor with written or verbal feedback as needed, based on student observations and/or student performance on worksheets
Work with other grading assistants to create a balanced workload to ensure grading is completed before the end of class

Front Desk/Head Assistant

Developing solid knowledge of Kumon method and worksheets
Checking students into class quickly and efficiently
Communicating with students and parents during class-time, addressing student and parental needs, professionally, quickly, and quietly
Relay messages and parental concerns to the Instructor in a timely manner
Prepare student folders and worksheets
Answer incoming phone calls, and support customer service issues as they arise.
Assist with RRL books check in/out

Skills and Attributes required:-

Candidates must enjoy working with children and have good multi-tasking and communication skills.

Strong math and reading aptitude to be able to assist students in higher level Math and Reading - University level students preferred
Attention to detail, reliable and self-motivated
Excellent attendance and punctuality
Ability to work well with other team members
Previous experience working at a Kumon Centre or being a previous Kumon student is a plus; however training will be provided.
Background and Vulnerability Sector Check/Clearance will be required
