Full job description

Job Overview
Deca Health and Wellness is seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) with Medical Receptionist experience to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting supervising physiotherapist, managing front desk operations, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients, and efficiently handling administrative tasks. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in medical terminology, and experience with electronic medical records systems.

Responsibilities

Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes.
Schedule appointments and manage the calendar for healthcare providers.
Answer phone calls promptly, addressing patient inquiries and directing calls as necessary.
Maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Verify patient insurance information and handle billing inquiries.
Ensure the front desk area is organized and welcoming at all times.
Collaborate with medical staff to ensure seamless patient flow throughout the office.
Collaborate closely with the supervising Physiotherapist to assist in the execution of individualized treatment plans.
Administer therapeutic interventions as prescribed, including gait training, balance and transfer exercises, range of motion and strengthening activities, and the application of physical modalities (heat, ice, TENS).
Prepare, set up, and sanitize equipment before and after treatment sessions to maintain a safe and organized environment.
Ensure cleanliness and safety of the gym and treatment areas at all times to promote a functional and hazard-free workspace.
Maintain consistent communication with the supervising Physiotherapist, promptly reporting changes in patient status or responses to treatment interventions.
Handle administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.

Experience

Previous experience in a Multidisciplinary Wellness Clinic setting is preferred.
Physiotherapy Assistant (PTA) experience is required
Familiarity with medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the team and with patients.
Experience with electronic medical records systems, Telus Health and Provider Connect is required.
Strong administrative skills, including proficiency in using phone systems and office equipment.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on providing exceptional customer service at the front desk.
Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Proactive and able to work independently.
