About Woods Clothing
Woods Clothing is an independent clothing store in downtown Uxbridge. We're a small team, which means everyone plays an important role in keeping the store running smoothly. We're looking for an experienced retail professional to join us in a role that goes beyond a traditional sales associate position.
This is a great fit for someone who enjoys fashion, working with customers and the variety that comes with working in a small business. We're looking for someone who is comfortable taking initiative, solving problems and working independently. We'd especially love to find someone who enjoys coming up with ideas, creating experiences and finding new ways for Woods to connect with our customers and the local community.
What we're looking for
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous retail experience
- Experience in fashion retail, or a strong understanding of and interest in the fashion industry
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- The ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent attention to detail
- Reliability and flexibility
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Comfort with technology and the ability to troubleshoot day-to-day technical issues
- An interest in merchandising and store presentation
- An interest in event planning, community involvement and creating new ways to engage with customers
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to occasionally attend buying appointments in Toronto
- Flexibility to occasionally work daytime or evening store events
Experience with event coordination, community organizations, Shopify, Canva, social media or other content creation platforms is an asset.
The role
Responsibilities may include:
- Greeting, assisting and building relationships with customers
- Processing purchases using Shopify POS
- Unpacking, pricing and merchandising new stock
- Creating displays and changing mannequins
- Attending buying appointments in Toronto and assisting with product selection
- Developing ideas for in-store events, promotions and community initiatives
- Helping plan, coordinate, promote and host daytime and evening store events
- Building relationships and looking for opportunities to connect Woods with the local community and other businesses
- Troubleshooting day-to-day operational and technical issues
- Completing inventory checks
- Inputting and managing new stock
- Updating and managing the store website (Shopify)
- Assisting with social media and content creation
- Helping oversee the store and supporting the day-to-day operation of the business
Hours & Compensation
The current position is for approximately two days per week, with opportunities for additional hours when covering staff absences, vacations and other shifts as needed. Some flexibility is required for occasional buying appointments in Toronto and daytime or evening store events.
Compensation: Starting at $20/hour, with opportunities for increased compensation as the role and responsibilities grow.
Please note that this is not a seasonal position. We are looking for someone interested in becoming a long-term part of the Woods team.
Because this role includes responsibilities beyond a traditional sales associate position, we're particularly interested in candidates with previous retail experience who are comfortable taking on responsibility and growing into a management-focused role.
