About the Role

We are looking for an Senior Industrial Software Developer to join our engineering team in Pickering, Ontario.

You will lead the design, development and evolution of software powering our industrial printing and automation equipment. Working closely with mechanical, electrical and firmware engineers, you will help define technical direction, solve complex engineering challenges and deliver reliable machine solutions.

This role offers significant technical variety. One week you may be designing a new software architecture, the next debugging communication with industrial hardware, optimizing a Windows kernel driver, integrating a PLC-controlled subsystem, or mentoring another developer through a complex technical problem.

You will be expected to take ownership of major software components, make sound technical decisions, and contribute to the long-term evolution of our software platforms.

Modern C++ application development
Windows desktop software (UI/UX)
Windows kernel-mode driver development
Industrial communication protocols
PLC integration and machine automation
Motion control systems
Vision and imaging systems
Software interacting directly with industrial hardware
Diagnostics and performance optimization
Software architecture and system design
Technical leadership and mentoring
Design reviews and code reviews

Required Skills

Extensive professional experience developing software in C/C++
Strong software architecture and object-oriented design skills
Excellent debugging and analytical problem-solving abilities
Experience developing software that directly interacts with hardware
Strong understanding of industrial automation and machine control
Ability to independently lead complex technical projects
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Experience mentoring developers and conducting technical reviews

Experience in One or More of the Following is an Asset

Windows Kernel Driver development
PLC programming (Beckhoff, Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron, etc.)
Motion control
Industrial Ethernet, EtherCAT, CAN, Modbus or OPC-UA
Serial communication
Embedded systems and FPGA interfaces
Computer vision and industrial cameras
Multi-threaded programming
UI/UX development
Windows API
Git

Education

Bachelor's degree in one of the following, or equivalent experience:

Computer Engineering
Software Engineering
Computer Science
Mechatronics
Electrical Engineering
