Associate DevOps Engineer –eCommerce Infrastructure
Role Description:
Avery Products Canada is seeking a highly motivated Associate DevOps Engineer to join our Digital Technology team and support the infrastructure that powers our eCommerce, web, and digital platforms. This role is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and evolving cloud-based infrastructure, deployment pipelines, monitoring systems, and application environments across development, testing, staging, and production.
The ideal candidate is passionate about automation, system reliability, and continuous improvement. Working closely with developers, IT operations, and business stakeholders, you will help ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security of Avery's customer-facing digital platforms.
Qualifications
- 1-5 years’ Unix (Ubuntu) system administration experience
- Ability to write administrative scripts to automate tasks
- Ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge in supporting the following:
o Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
o Microsoft Azure
o Experience supporting ecommerce applications
- Knowledge and experience with continuous integration and deployment of automation tools such as Jenkins and Bitbucket Pipelines
- Understanding of security best practices, vulnerability management, SSL certificates, identity management, and access controls.
- Familiarity with build process tools like NPM, WebPack, etc.
- Familiarity with web servers NGINX and Apache
- Must have the passion for solving complex problems and attention to details.
- Energetic self-starter who is organized and reliable.

- Familiarity with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.
- Strong communication skills essential
- Use AI tools to enhance thought processes and improve efficiency

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field with 1-5 years of experience
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, maintain, and optimize Azure-based infrastructure supporting Avery's web and eCommerce platforms.
- Manage and support development, staging, and production environments.
- Monitor infrastructure health, system performance, application availability, and security across all environments.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, network, application, and deployment-related issues.
- Perform capacity planning and infrastructure optimization to ensure scalability and reliability.
- Support front and backend QA testing before code release.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable software delivery.
- Automate manual operational tasks through scripting and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment efficiency, reduce downtime, and streamline release management.
- Support source control, build automation, artifact management, and deployment workflows.
- Implement best practices for change management, release management, and environment consistency.
- Willing to travel both domestically and internationally
