Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly and organized Retail Associate/Cashier to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service, manage sales transactions efficiently, and contribute to a positive shopping experience. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency with computer systems, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced retail environment. Bilingual abilities in English and French are highly valued, along with experience in retail sales, cashiering, and merchandising. The Retail Associate/Cashier will play a key role in maintaining store organization and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Greet customers warmly and assist them with their shopping needs
Operate POS systems accurately for cash handling and credit transactions
Upsell products and promote store promotions to enhance sales opportunities
Maintain organized merchandise displays and assist with merchandising efforts
Handle customer inquiries professionally and resolve issues promptly
Manage inventory by filing, stock replenishment, and organizing stockroom areas
Ensure cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and store environment
Perform basic math calculations for transactions and pricing accuracy
Assist with light administrative tasks such as filing and data entry using Microsoft Office tools like Excel and Word
Support team members with leadership duties when needed, including training new staff
Demonstrate excellent time management skills to ensure efficient checkout processes during peak hours

Qualifications

Proven experience in retail sales, cashiering, or customer service roles preferred
Strong communication skills in English; bilingual proficiency in French is a plus
Familiarity with POS systems, computer operation, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and basic math skills
Ability to handle heavy lifting when necessary (stock movement or merchandise handling)
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in merchandising and filing tasks
Ability to work effectively in a team environment with leadership qualities when required
Multilingual capabilities are advantageous for serving diverse customer bases
Previous experience in hospitality or retail environments is beneficial but not mandatory
Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently in a busy setting
