Position Summary
Reporting directly to the President as part of the senior leadership team, the Financial Controller will lead all aspects of the finance function while serving as a trusted business partner to the management team.
This role combines strategic financial leadership with hands-on operational involvement and requires a professional who understands the realities of a manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will provide accurate financial information, strengthen internal controls, support operational decision-making, and help guide the organization through its next stage of growth. The successful candidate will also advise management on Human Resources issues and maintain these policies as legislation changes to keep Exacon thriving to retain and attract future employees.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Lead all accounting and financial reporting activities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
- Monitor cash flow and working capital performance
- Manage relationships with banks, auditors, insurance providers, and external advisors
- Lead year-end audit preparation and completion
- Develop and maintain effective financial controls and business processes
Manufacturing Finance
- Analyze product costing and manufacturing performance
- Monitor inventory valuation and inventory control processes
- Provide profitability and margin analysis
- Support pricing, capital investment, and operational decisions
- Partner closely with operations, purchasing, and production teams to improve business performance
- Develop key performance indicators and management reporting tools
Business Partnership
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to senior leadership
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement
- Support growth initiatives and business expansion activities
Human Resources (HR)
The successful candidate will also lead the company with:
- HR policy administration
- Compensation and benefits oversight
- Employee relations support
- Recruitment coordination
- Performance management processes
- Health and safety administration
- Coordinate external service providers, including IT
Qualifications
Required
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- Minimum 8+ years of progressive accounting finance leadership experience
- Significant manufacturing finance and cost accounting experience
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis
- Experience leading month-end and year-end financial processes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Experience leading and mentoring accounting, HR and administrative staff
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or ERP systems and Microsoft Office, Sharepoint etc.
- Experience overseeing Human Resources functions
Preferred
- Experience within agricultural, industrial, manufacturing, or distribution environments
- Continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing exposure
- Securely managing all office technology equipment and systems in a safe cybersecurity environment
- Experience supporting privately held entrepreneurial organizations

Pay: $140,000.00-$165,000.00 per year
