Position Title: Graphic Designer & Marketing Support

Reports To: Operations Manager / CFO

Location: Cowichan Valley, BC

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

Serious Coffee is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to support our brand, marketing, café operations, and franchise locations. This role is responsible for creating professional, consistent, and engaging visual materials that reflect the Serious Coffee brand across print, digital, in-store, and merchandise platforms.

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for layout, typography, branding, and visual storytelling, with the ability to balance creativity with practical business needs. This position requires someone who can work independently, manage multiple projects, and produce high-quality work within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Design marketing materials including posters, menu boards, food tags, promotional signage, advertisements, and digital graphics.
Create and update in-store materials for cafés, including product cards, feature boards, operational signage, and customer-facing displays.
Support brand consistency across corporate and franchise locations.
Prepare print-ready files for vendors, including proper sizing, bleed, resolution, and file formatting.
Design social media graphics, website assets, email visuals, and other digital marketing content.
Assist with merchandise and packaging design, including cups, sleeves, stickers, labels, apparel, and promotional items.
Work with management to develop seasonal campaigns, product launches, and local store marketing materials.
Edit and refine existing brand assets, templates, logos, icons, and illustrations as needed.
Communicate with print suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure accuracy and quality.
Maintain organized digital files, templates, and brand asset libraries.
Ensure all designs align with Serious Coffee’s visual identity, values, and customer experience.

Required Qualifications

Experience in graphic design, visual communications, marketing design, or a related field.
Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
Ability to create print-ready files and understand basic production requirements.
Strong sense of layout, typography, colour, spacing, and brand consistency.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.
Good communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to receive feedback and revise designs accordingly.
Portfolio demonstrating relevant design work.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience designing for cafés, restaurants, retail, franchises, or food and beverage brands.
Experience with menu design, signage, packaging, merchandise, or social media content.
Familiarity with Canva, WordPress, Mailchimp, or other marketing tools is an asset.
Basic photography, photo editing, or video editing skills are an asset.
Understanding of print production, vinyl signage, large-format printing, and merchandise decoration is an asset.

Working Conditions

Work may be completed remotely, in-office, or in a hybrid arrangement depending on business needs.
Occasional visits to café locations may be required for photography, measurements, signage checks, or project planning.
Some flexibility may be required for urgent marketing updates, seasonal campaigns, or store opening projects.

Compensation

Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and employment arrangement.
