What is the opportunity?

Curtis-Villar Chartered Professional Accountants is growing and looking for the next outstanding team member to join us from January - April 2027! Are you currently studying accounting and looking for an opportunity to put your classroom learning into practice? Are you someone who enjoys interacting with people, brings their A-game each and every day, and wants to be a part of a great team?

As an Accounting Co-op Student, you will have the opportunity to gain practical experience working with a wide range of exciting clientele – the small to medium sized businesses that are driving Ontario’s economy. Your role will include assisting with bookkeeping, preparing T4 and T5 slips, personal tax returns, and a variety of other accounting and tax-related tasks wherever we need you. You will be exposed to different areas of the profession and have the opportunity to learn from and work alongside experienced members of our team.

You will be responsible for learning deadlines, preparing files, researching issues and actively participating as a member of our team. We will provide guidance and support as you learn, while encouraging you to take ownership of the tasks you are assigned, ask questions, and develop your ability to identify and solve problems. We want you to leave your co-op term with a better understanding of what it means to work in public accounting and with practical experience that you can take with you into your future career.

To provide the most up to date experience we are embracing cloud based applications and automation to free us up for the exciting, high-value work our clients are looking for.

Effective and professional communication is your calling card. You enjoy working with people and are interested in developing relationships with team members and clients. You are excited about being exposed to new technology and understand that client needs are rapidly changing how and what we do. You want to be at the forefront of this movement. You may have experience using a variety of programs such as (but not limited to) QuickBooks Online, Xero, Caseware, TaxPrep, Dext, Jobber, Wagepoint, Fathom, MoneyThumb, iFirm, etc. And if you don't – you are open to the challenge!

Our office is located in Fergus, and public transportation to Fergus is not available. The ability to reliably commute to our office is required.
