About Whitemud Ironworks Limited

Whitemud Ironworks Limited is one of Western Canada’s largest open-shop commercial steel fabricators and erectors. As a fully integrated company, we specialize in structural and miscellaneous steel projects within the commercial sector.

With over 25 years of industry experience, we have built a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and safety. We operate offices and construction crews in both Alberta and British Columbia, supported by three Alberta-based fabrication facilities totaling more than 400,000 square feet.

Today, Whitemud Ironworks proudly employs over 250 team members—and we continue to grow. As we prepare for another busy year, we are seeking skilled and motivated professionals to join our fabrication teams.

Whitemud Ironworks delivers structural and miscellaneous steel for a wide range of commercial construction projects across Western Canada, including:

Lake City Studios, Burnaby BC
Champion Pet Foods, Acheson AB
Rogers Place Arena, Edmonton AB
Vancouver Airport, Vancouver BC
And many other notable commercial projects across Western Canada.

Position Overview

Whitemud Ironworks Limited is hiring experienced Field SMAW Welders for our Edmonton-based construction team. Enjoy local work, home every night, and year-round employment. Key Responsibilities

Read, understand and follow instruction drawings and weld procedures
Weld structural and miscellaneous carbon steel using SMAW or FCAW all positions
Work at heights as required.

Qualifications

Ticketed journeyman or registered apprentice
Valid CWB SMAW all position ticket preferred
CWB FCAW all position ticket is an asset
Minimum 2 years' experience with structural steel projects
Experience with commercial projects is an asset
Takes safety as your number one priority
Reliable and willing to work as a team with others
