Position Overview
Pioneer Family Pools is seeking an experienced and versatile Graphic Designer to join our marketing team. This role is responsible for creating high-quality, on-brand visual content across digital, print, retail, advertising, and promotional channels.
The ideal candidate is a strong creative thinker who can take a project from initial concept through final production while managing multiple priorities and deadlines. They should be equally comfortable designing a digital advertisement, retail sign, direct-mail piece, brochure, social media graphic, email creative, or large-format display.
This is a hands-on production role for someone who understands how design supports broader marketing and business goals. The successful candidate will work closely with the Marketing Manager, marketing team, internal departments, store locations, vendors, and external partners.
This is an existing vacancy within our organization. The successful candidate will work on-site, with an anticipated start date in late August or early September.
Pay: $60,000–$70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Design and Production
- Design marketing materials for digital, print, retail, social media, email, web, events, and advertising campaigns.
- Create digital advertisements for platforms such as Meta, Google, display networks, and other paid media channels.
- Develop print materials including flyers, brochures, direct-mail pieces, catalogues, postcards, signage, price tags, banners, and point-of-purchase materials.
- Create social media graphics, campaign visuals, promotional assets, and branded templates.
- Design creative for email campaigns, landing pages, website banners, and other digital marketing initiatives.
- Produce large-format materials for retail locations, trade shows, tent sales, special events, and community initiatives.
- Prepare artwork for print and digital production while ensuring files meet all technical specifications.
- Coordinate with printers, signage providers, media partners, and other vendors when required.
- Review proofs and final files to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality before production.
Brand Management
- Maintain and apply Pioneer Family Pools’ brand standards across all marketing materials.
- Support the visual identities of additional brands, product categories, locations, and business divisions as required.
- Ensure all creative is consistent, professional, accessible, and appropriate for the intended audience and channel.
- Organize and maintain brand assets, templates, photography, logos, fonts, and design files.
- Help evolve the company’s visual style while maintaining brand recognition and consistency.
Campaign and Team Support
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop creative concepts for seasonal campaigns, product launches, promotions, events, and sales initiatives.
- Translate campaign objectives and creative briefs into effective visual materials.
- Adapt creative concepts into multiple formats, sizes, channels, and regional versions.
- Support store locations and internal departments with approved marketing materials.
- Prioritize requests based on business needs, deadlines, campaign schedules, and available resources.
- Manage several projects simultaneously while communicating clearly about timelines, requirements, and potential delays.
- Contribute creative ideas during campaign planning and marketing discussions.
- Support photography, image selection, basic photo editing, and video or motion design projects when required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of professional graphic design experience in an in-house marketing department, agency, retail organization, or similar environment.
- Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Interactive Media, or a related field.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating experience across both digital and print design.
- Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Strong understanding of print production, file preparation, colour management, resolution, bleed, and vendor specifications.
- Experience designing for digital advertising, social media, email, websites, and responsive environments.
- Strong typography, layout, composition, branding, and visual storytelling skills.
- Ability to work within established brand standards while also bringing forward new creative ideas.
- Excellent attention to detail, including proofreading, alignment, consistency, and production accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to receive feedback professionally and apply revisions efficiently.
- Experience with HubSpot an asset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within retail, home improvement, lifestyle, recreation, consumer products, or a multi-location business.
- Experience creating retail signage, direct mail, catalogues, brochures, or large-format graphics.
- Experience with Canva and developing templates for use by non-designers.
- Experience with HubSpot, Asana, or similar marketing and project-management platforms.
- Experience with basic video editing, animation, motion graphics, or Adobe After Effects.
- Experience designing landing pages, email templates, or web assets with an understanding of user experience and conversion principles.
- Photography or photo-retouching experience.
- Familiarity with accessibility and digital design best practices.
