Full job description

The Civil Project Coordinator supports Project Managers and Superintendents to oversee the planning, execution, and closing of Civil engineering projects. They act as a central communication hub, managing logistics, documentation, and budgets to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.

Duties and responsibilities

Project assistance: Support the Project Manager and Superintendent in day-to-day administration and fieldwork. This can include preparing estimates, bids, and tender submissions.
Documentation and reporting: Maintain all project documentation, such as contracts, reports, drawings, permits, and specifications. They also prepare regular progress reports for clients and project managers.
Scheduling and coordination: Coordinate schedules and activities between various project teams, including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. They ensure all deadlines and milestones are met.
Budget management: Track project expenditures and assist with managing the budget, including negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors.
Compliance and safety: Monitor project compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, building codes, and quality control programs.
Communication: Serve as a liaison between all stakeholders and facilitate effective communication. Organize and attend project meetings, taking minutes and tracking action items.

Qualifications and requirements

Education: A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is desired. A college diploma in a construction-related discipline may also be acceptable.
Experience: Previous experience in civil construction (roads and sewers) or construction-related administrative role is essential. Several years of experience may be substituted for post-secondary education.
Technical skills:
Proficiency with project management software, such as MS Project.
Familiarity with construction management tools.
Proficiency with design software like AutoCAD.
Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Soft skills:
Exceptional organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Good problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
A proactive, self-motivated, and collaborative attitude.
