We are excited to be recruiting for a Dishwasher/Prep Cook at The Wood Tavern, located within the Norwood Hotel.

Shifts will primarily be evenings and weekends, but open/flexible availability is required.

The Norwood Hotel has always been an innovative leader in the hotel industry. The Norwood Hotel has an interesting and diverse history dating back to the latter part of the 1800’s. The earliest records available indicate a photograph of the hotel in 1895. In 1937, the Hotel came under the ownership of the late Merle Sparrow and has been operated by the Sparrow family ever since. This longevity in ownership makes the Norwood the oldest operated family hotel in Manitoba and one, if not the oldest in all of Western Canada.

Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Dishwasher/Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to consistency. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting daily food preparation, assisting with Banquet prep and dishwashing duties as needed.

Duties:

1. Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items.

2. Assist in the cooking process by following recipes and instructions from the head chef or kitchen manager.

3. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including workstations, utensils, and equipment.

4. Adhere to food safety guidelines and proper food handling procedures at all times.

5. Help with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting shortages to management.

6. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service during peak hours.

7. Participate in daily cleaning tasks to maintain a sanitary work environment.

What you bring to the table:

1. At least 1 year of Prep Cook experience in a fast-paced environment

2. A positive and hardworking attitude

3. Knowledge of cleaning procedures, food handling safety, and sanitation standards is highly desirable

4. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks with energy and efficiency

5. Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations

6. Strong commitment to hospitality, teamwork, and maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced setting

7. Willingness to follow detailed instructions and adhere to health and safety regulations
