Full job description

Role Overview

This is a hands-on dual-role position within an industrial asphalt manufacturing environment, combining plant operations with mechanical maintenance. You will split your time between running production and troubleshooting/repairing equipment, depending on weather and production demands.This is not a single-focus role — it’s suited to someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and being directly involved in both operations and maintenance.

Requirements

5–10+ years of experience in a plant, manufacturing, or industrial environment
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
Hands-on experience operating or monitoring industrial plant equipment
Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions
Comfortable working at heights
Proven ability to switch between operations and maintenance tasks
Strong work ethic, reliability, and team-first mentality

Nice-to-Haves

Red Seal Millwright certification (strongly preferred)
Background as a Millwright, Industrial Electrician, or Welder
Experience in asphalt, aggregates, or similar heavy industrial plants
Loader or heavy equipment operating experience

Responsibilities

Operate, monitor, and support production within an asphalt plant
Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs on plant equipment
Execute preventative maintenance to reduce downtime
Identify and resolve minor issues before they escalate (“operator’s eye”)
Adjust between production-focused work and maintenance-heavy work depending on conditions:
Peak season: primarily plant operation and monitoring
Rain/weather downtime: maintenance and repair focus
Annual shutdown: intensive maintenance and plant overhaul
Work closely with a small, tight-knit crew (3–4 people)
Support a safe, efficient, and continuous production process
